Default Fao the audi techs lol

I have a 2002 A3 TDi sport quattro 130bhp and today had it mot'd (which it passed) but i asked the garage to replace the n/s/f inner and outer cv gaitors and redo the tracking

They done this but couldnt get the steering wheel centred as one tie rod ball joint is seized so the steering wheel now leans to about the 8'oclock position when the car is going straight.

Now when you start driving the esp light comes on and stays on, it wasnt doing that this morning!!

Are there sensors on the steering that are detecting the wheel is not straight and turning the light on?

Typically i was going to put the car on auto trader after the tie rod and tracking have been sorted by the end of the week, and now this...

Cheers for any info!

Yes mate steering angle sensor G85 will detect this and will need basic settings carried out after the steering has been sorted and steering wheel is centred again.

It sounds to me like your steering angle sensor needs reseting, to do this you will need somebody with a vag-com set up to do the reset.
Look on your normal audi forum (if you are on one) and ask if anybody in your area has one and can do it for you for beer tokens.

Ah at least something isnt broken. On the resetting part, the local garage where is is are pretty oldschool, i doubt they have heard of vagcom

Cheers chaps, put my mind at rest anyway!

do not use dialynx unless you

a)want your car to leave with loose stuff on
b)want to pay over the odds for the privilidge

get on audisrs or s2forum, there are a few people in swindon with vagcom. If at worst buy a Ł10 cable off ebay and download the software and do it yourself.

you will need the full version of vag-com the Ł10 ebay ones will not get into the
module required to recalibrate the angle sensor. Its not just a case of turning off the warning light.
