Saphs on eBay
Well sitting in the hospital with our little one this evening bored stiff after 7 hours of waiting so I decided to look through eBay. Typed in Sierra cosworth and to my surprise there's only 2 saphs for sale!! When I last looked a few years ago there were tons on there! Can't be that many left now or people aren't selling them anymore

It's mad. But that's what happens when something is worth more in bits!
Can only find 2 myself in there. Not sure where the other 5 are? listed in the wrong section, not under cars?

Blimey can't be many left at all then! I remember when there was like 20 or more on eBay all the time, most of them must have been broken up for bits in the end but I suppose that means the ones that we now own are worth a lot more cause of it but seems a shame it's put them out of reach price wise of a lot of people :-(

Saphs
I just bought a 2wd by chance took my nan out for Sunday dinner and bumped into someone I havnt seen for about 8 years he asked me if I was still into my cossies and mentioned a moonstone one totally standard 71 k 3 owner car i wanted a nice spec one but 3 days later and 8 k I had to have it for the simple fact I can't find a genuine car it's hard enough to find a ragged tiered example

I just bought a 2wd through ebay last week.Bought it blind though after speaking to the seller, wasn't taking any chances and letting it get away

Seen that one for sale a while back it was up for around 13.5 k and didn't go although it's been modded and had some changes not sure about the specifics on the mileage history ect what you paid is what they are worth now looks a nice example and will only go up and up in value

Id never be able to afford one the prices they are now, so lucky I bought mine when I did and Kept it even if it ever gets written off or stolen I'll get enough money for it to buy another one and never be without one now

Ive just purchased one of the last 200 produced in noveau red, 91k 3 owners, currently having a full paint at Gibby's, 2 new rear arches, back end of sills, 2 pass doors and a few other bits and bobs, original wheels powder coated, mint interior, drives great and i think the cars great, have everything to st3 it once home from work all from MSD, new coil/fuel/fan looms to fit and black samco's, air box back in.
Purchased to use until my Escos i ready but i think the way things are with saph's i'll hang on to it, especially with the low owners, ford service and low mileage

Sad to see the numbers low, but it doesn't surprise me, I remember a time (not that long ago!) where there were loads for 4k or less (rough ones I know) but even then you could buy one and double your money stripping it, no wonder so many got broken isn't it? And not so long ago there would be 20odd on auto trader and a good 3or 4 pages of them on pistonheads.

I was reading an old copy of fast ford I think it was last night, it was a sapphire cosworth special. The price guide was £3000 to £4500 for a useable example and they said some people pick rough examples up for £1000 to £2000. Think the mag was from 2006/07. Crazy

I picked up a complete and running stage 3 4x4 Saff for £1500 about four years ago...I couldn't give him the money quick enough when he said his price!
I've also been looking for a decent Saff for a wee while now but most of them appear to be bodged up wrecks. Getting so hard to find a nice car at sensible money but I'm sure they are out there. Nice white one popped up on Gumtree today in Bristol.

A mate of mine paid £1500 for a tidy standard 2wd saff back in 2003. Restored it to near concourse and now just sold it for £15k

Back in 2007 when I was looking for a rs turbo I was half tempted to buy a saph for £2500 but the traders policy I was on wouldn't cover any cosworth models. I paid £1100 for my rs turbo and keep looking at them again and they seem to be around the £3k mark. Same with the old cavs and novas, the amount of them that you used to get offered for £150-200 now they're a grand minimum

Just supply and demand - there's maybe a hardcore of a few hundred people who quite like the Sapphires now and they're probably going to hang onto them. If they don't there'll be a few people who maybe want one which will lead to the prices staying high for a 4-door Sierra. So many got broken for spares/crashed/rusted it was obvious it wouldn't go on for ever
For me it was always the 'best' road car - I could have bought an older 3-door for much the same price when I got mine but just preferred the 4-doors, not having the big wing on the back and the different handling characteristics

I genuinely like saffs lol I think mine looks just right with leather dark trim and in moonstone. Don't think I'll part with it simply because as I say I like them. So if I did sell it chances are I could not replace it if I wanted another.
