unseizing brakes
how do you unseize front 4wd cossie brakes.
will be moving the car shortly to the auto electritians to sort t out |
depends on how they are seized really.
if its just from not moving then take the calipers off (but still connected to the brake lines) and push the pedal to get the pistons to slide, then work them back in and just keep repeating it. |
 i would put a block of wood between the pistons if you do that. you don't want them suddenly popping out.

take them off and get them rebuilt
if there seized there probably fooked if there rear callipers then if you can unseize them by taking them off and pumping pedal the pistons will pop out and you can have a look inside. they had a seal in a groove in the calliper wall and an outer rubber seal the rebuild kits are not expensive just get a bit of wd 40 and some wet and dry on the piston to remove any scum and put all back together. :top: |
and ggr have some 4 pot rebuild kits on ebay at the moment for 30 quid buy it now per caliper. contains new outer seals (seized calipers will have torn seals that lets moisture in to rust the piston)

I find that 6 k launch usually does the trick when the fookers seize :top:
