Default Buying a car and the MOT seams a bit odd?

Car mot advice needed

I am looking at a car and the mot history online checks out apart from one thing that seams odd to me any thoughts on this,

last year the car was re moted with 7 months still to run on its mot, I have emailed the seller asking about this and not had a reply yet, the only think I can see was the mot was done by a different company to the previous mot's issued

it seams odd to me that that anyone would re-mot a car with 7 months still on it, I have not done a HPI check on it yet.

Any thoughts on this?

Was it a second-hand car sales/trader perhaps? They always seem to put 12 months on any car at any time as it helps sell it and there is less likelihood of it being brought back within a year saying it's failed the MoT!

Ive mot'd a car with 6 months left as someone left me a deposit on it and wanted with 12 months. They never showed up for the car so was a waste of time and money.

Could have been at a dealer, I recently brought a 2006 Focus ST and it was MOT'd in Sept 14 and then redone by the dealer Dec 14, could be to cover themselves so they know nothing is majorly wrong with the car?

Nothing strange IMO, its quite common - ive sold a car in the past which had 5 months MOT remaining but the buyer wanted full 12months, so i re-mot'd it

I've been tempted to reMOT mine with about 9 months left for the last few years, so that I'm not crawling around in in March when it's freezing cold. I just never get round to it though. The wife's is even worse at the end of Jan.

I wouldn't worry too much either just as the others have said. I bought a golf recently and it had 5 months on I think and I got the seller to re mot it as it was so far away and I figured it's a reasonable indication of condition

I had a XR2 about 10 years ago that had 5 months MOT left that I was trying to sell, was for sale for weeks until I put a fresh MOT on and sold within a week...

Nothing unusual at all. Every time I sell a car I always do it with a full MOT. Full MOT always sounds better than 6 months or less.

Not everyone would bother with 7 months left to run, but plenty would.

When I bought my RS2000 a few years back it had a fair few months MOT but as soon as I had driven it back from Scotland, the first thing I did was put it through an MOT at a friends garage. By getting the car checked over by people I knew and respected this was an important "piece of mind" thing for me. They couldn't find a thing to comment on so I was very happy.

I would probably have done this even if it had come with a 12 month ticket.

Cheers, John
