Play in new cosworth steering rack (with video)
I have play in my new cosworth 4x4 power steering rack! I say new as I bought it new 5 years ago lol but the car is only just running now. due to how long ago it was bought there is no returning it
Here is a vid of the play.
Now I have had the engine running and turned lock to lock with the res lid off but the car hasn't actually been out for a drive on the road as it is not MOT'd yet so I cant
Do you think this is a faulty rack or the play would disappear with a drive down the road? it looks minimal at the knuckle but with the steering wheel in hand it feels a lot worse
I don't want to go and pay for a full geometry set up only to have to remove the rack straight after
Thanks
Marc

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Definitely shouldn't be like that. Maybe the pinion hasn't been set up properly?
There should be a large hexagonal cap where the pinion goes into the rack, tighten it up very carefully (small increments make a big difference)
