Default Rebuild advice

My mates got a 4x4 saph and the head gasket has blown, its got 120k on it and it's standard apart from a stage 1 chip, he wants more poke, but doesn't know if he should rebuild the engine completely while it's in bits, or just fix the gasket and sell it and buy one with a recent rebuild?

I think the fact that it will cost about 3k for a rebuild is putting him off. Not that he is tight just that if he got 4k for his then put the extra 3k that he would have spent on a rebuild thats 7k on another car.

If it has a good bodyshell i would rebuild it, better the devil you know. Be prepared to spend Ł3000 min, ie rebore, pistons, head refurb, oil/water pumps, headset gaskets clutch. PJ motorsport do exchange rebuilt ones. regards ED
