cav diesel injector pump
just replaced the above to a mk4 escort diesel 1600,no fuel cumming out of pump, ive taken plunger out of stop solenoid,primed pump, cracked injector pipes but nothing,its a s/h one that was working before, its stood for a year or 2 in garage and car not had a pump on for 3 years, i thought id start her up as its a cabriolet i fitted the engine to 20 years ago

get the diesel to the filter then bleed the pump through the return pipe remember you need the ignition on removing the stop solenoid makes the fuel flow back to the tank best of luck

ive taken the spring and plunger out and put solenoid back on to make sure not sticking, primed but nothing comeing out of pipes at front of pump,connect pipes to injectors again nothing,cracked 2 pipes no diesel comeing out, i wonder if it needs cranking faster than im doing it to pressurise it

take the feed from a can of fresh diesel to the pump that way, bypassing the origional fuel lines and sender unit in the tank.
it will start that way unless the pump is fucked (i doubt this)
more likely is the sender unit or metal fuel lines are curroded and fuel lines are drawing more air and fuel is leaking back to the tank not letting it start
