Blocked fuel filter!

Although is say that's normal for a 55. I drove one flat out for about 30miles one day and couldn't get it above 85!

Only thing that will stop a diesel running properly is fuel starvation or blockage on inlet / exhaust so as said, check fuel filter then maybe blocked cat or turbo / pipework, if it has one.

I think you have hit it on the nail. My old van is coverned down to about 70mph, so to try and give her to much stick on the hills is a waist of time. Mind you who cares she is an Escort van and I love her.. she is a nice woman and I love to get stuck into her when ever I can,, HEHE....
Cheers Pete
