Default Nurburging weekend.............wow!!

Just got back this afternoon....................just!

What can you say, fantastic place to go with good weather with 14 of your mates.

Got there on Friday afternoon and by the time we got things sorted out in the Hotel Nordschleife

That hotel is right next to the ring and you can see the track from the hotel, very good rooms and prices.

Can see our hotel on GT 4 too.

We were itching to go to the ring as soon as we got there so we got the cars ready and set off.

When we got there i could not believe it,the amount of people/cars, truely awesome!

Got a ticket and off we went on our way around the track going slowish as we don't really know the track.

Unbelieveable!

What a track,did not seem to stop,the corners,inclines,declines,phew!

When finished it,it was timed at 9.45, so i was really happy with that for my first time lap.

We all had a awesome time on our first lap and we called it a day then as it was getting a bit late and we was tired from the trip over.

Next day,Saturday, we got all ready again for the track.

We got told that the Grand Prix track was open. , got told that this hardly happen so it was a bonus having a blast around that too.

Done a couple of laps now and opened the bonnet too let it cool a bit and noticed the clutch cable had melted,o.k, i know i should have had a heat sheild.

Had spare cables,thanks J.C.

On with the track!

Rob was driving Shauns car (Cuzzer 69) mk.2 escort, and the car car broke down on track!

175 euros later, Rob, sick as a parrot, lol, got the car towed off the track and found the clutch had gone.

1 down, ready for the AA to take it home.

Next day, Sunday, it was another good day for the track.

Rob, in the 3 door was staying behind me getting me getting a bit of video footage of me on track.

We said we would not go bananas, but you know what its like.

His turn now to go in front, what a driver.

Really sideways and very fast fast around the track, could not keep up hardly.

Next, J.C was out in Ricks (Mex it, on here and rsoc) car.

Decided that cos we were filming J.C in the mexico, we filled my car up, 5 up.

J.C giving it a good go aroung the Grand Prix bit and was giving it abit too as we was not going really fast.

Coming down a straight and aproaching the corner then............

SHIT!!!!!!

NO BRAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tried to brake and there was nothing there, seem to throw the car sideways across the kerb then grass, then on the track(as we was on a bend) then we were headind for J.C in the mexico sideways.!!!

J.C thought, wtf is he doing!

Seen us coming sideways at him and he said we were about 6-8 inches off the floor as we were heading for him, he floored it and we silded onto the bit of runoff next to the track!

Proper thought we were going to smash it up but seemed to come to a stop a bit away from the tyres.

Think the weight in the car helped, really do, cos i thought we would roll.

Got out and seen bits of the back caliper, brake disc by us sizziling!!

Brake disc shattered, smashing the rear caliper, brake fluid leaking, no brakes!!

Not going to get charged 175 euros so we fooked off asap.

Only had the rear handbrake, 1 side and drove away keeping it in 2nd and 1st gear.

Ended up coming off at our hotel as there is an entrance to the track there.

Straight off and we we back to the hotel 1 min later!

Phew!!

Really lucky that it happened on the GP bit of the track and not on the ring itself!!!

Funny now, but then, , proper shit a brick at the time!

Had to clamlp the hose with a pair of mole grips to sort it so we could get it home.

Set off early Monday morning and took it easy, just in case.

Gave us plenty of time to get the cars to the boat.

Had the best time i have had in a car and the laugh with the lads in the day and night and on the boat was really funny.

Great experience going there, doing the ring and the GP circut.

Just got to sort the car out no we are all home in one piece, well Shauns car won't be over for a couple weeks.

Pics wil be posted in the gallery.

Kev,

i took £800 plus cash cars, paid petrol between 3,really good on the petrol going there and back.

Paid 80 euros for 6 laps including the gp circut, boss in the hotel had discounted tickets for us.

Eat out, paid for larger, had a go on the go-karts,what a laugh we had.

All that and i come home with just under £300!

Spend £500, very well spent too and i was not tight with my money like a couple of the other lads.

thats right John,

The car had to be looked at and then will have to wait untill there are enough to send the car back on one wagon as to save money on bringing one at a time back.

Was a really good time, anyone going though,go in a group and with others that have been before.

Expect the worst too.

We will be going in September, taking a van and trailer and the van will have everything needed as to get the cars going again.

Jesus, someone obviously likes "scallies" up there . Good save . Will see you in September if you're going back then. We're booked up for May 20-23rd .

Now you know why Clarkson calls it the "Ringworm" it, just eats away at you once you have been and you have to keep returning .

good time had then Dave

The whole event sound like every single rally I have been on when abroad, something usually happens that never happens over here. Spooky ain't it. But it does then bring out "le spirito de competition" when others drop everything and gladly help out
