PassionFord Post Whore!!
Seeing as this seems to be a catch-all thread for VAG derv stuff.
They sold an (05/06 plate) Audi A4 at work 2.0 16v tdi thing BKD? came in complaining of a surging/holding back under accel.
It ran well at idle/light accel but full throttle accel it was holding back. They sent it to local Audi dealer to be diagnosed, it was there ages and came back as a non-runner, they reckoned it needs a new cylinder head as the 'injector seats are warped'
Has anyone heard of this before?
They also said it needs 3 injectors, I've not worked on it myself, but I think it's had 3 injectors and the injector loom in the head and as it's STILL sat out the back I guess it's not fixed!

Technical Info & Spec
1. Quantum Platinum is a fully synthetic SAE 5W-40 engine oil for all year round use in applications where an oil of that
viscosity grade and performance level (API SL/CF, ACEA A3/B4/C3) is recommended, in particular high performance
vehicles and those under arduous conditions, such as extended high speed driving, towing and high temperatures.
Quantum Platinum uses an optimised blend of full synthetic base oils and a carefully selected and balanced additive
system. Quantum Platinum is suitable for use in Volkswagen Group Pumpe Düse engines (meets the VW 505 01
specification) on fixed service intervals
Useful link for VAG oil.

Should have a local TPS http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/
Actually the Valvoline 5w40 durablend oil that Fudgey mentions earlier in the thread, meets VAG 505.01 spec so is ideal for PD engines.

As said needs to be correct PD oil or it will kill the cam off. 150 bhp TDi engines are notorious for eating camshafts, google PD150 chocolate camshafts lol
The car I originally asked about, its still going albeit still using a mug or so of water a week at present, really strange but i think it will be fine for a bit then one day its just going to full on shit itself and need the H/G doing.
If you pootle around town it doesnt warm up, or takes forever to, but if you drive it around town for 2 minutes and then blast it at 50 - 60 down a dual carriageway it will heat up to 90 and stay there within minutes.
Strange car.

Have you checked the radiator?
Pics below of my car. The bottom inner corner of the rad rot out. Might be worth looking at before you go down the HG route as a failed HG isn't as common on the 130hp's.
