he should have insisted on the chassis number to order it. In my work place if any doubt ask for info you need if not tell customer sorry but need info to order . My place has something like £2 to £4 k at least per month thats ordered wrong or not needed. Unlucky for us

They cannot refuse to accept the item back as a returned item as it is an incorrectly supplied part that you did not specificly ask for (meaning that you asked for a header tank for you car, not asked them to order a particular part number)

If you ordered the part and decided you didn't want it then they can refuse to accept it back and also if you gave them a particular part number to order.

correctamundo,,, but with the age of the car the chassis number
may not give the build date, before vor'ing the part, the partsman should
have asked you get the basic part number off your old header tank.
instead he guessed & then expects you to cough up for his fook up

Going back in on Tuesday
Got a new one ordered from the ford parts site which is a few quid cheaper and they have it IN stock so it will be here soonish!
Will ask them to put the money from it towards a new cam belt
