I have a mk2 as a daily, it's a golf gti with a big boot. Very practical, pokey, good on petrol, great dealers and cheap to run. Rides very well on the 17's

I'll have another, bloody great car for a good price

To look out for cambelt service, coil pack recall and metal bladed waterpump at cambelt service. Make sure the tracking/alignment is kept spot on. It's a golf/audi a3/a4/seat Leon

hmmm, so you prefer mk1. Seats will always have seat covers on as the dog will have to ride in it and I work in motor trade so most days I'm a bit grubby.

(the wife has a focus st)

Check it's got good oil change history.

If not sump off and change the oil pickup pipe as they block up.
And use Vag spec synthetic oil.
