Guys.,..
A tanker is just that... its got fuck all to do with whats inside!
In fact the truth is that ALL fuel is delivered from the closest Refinary! All comanies from BP to Shell share the facilities/trucks etc. The only exception is Shell Optimax which is only made from the New Haven Refinary.
Supermarket fuel IS NOT THE SAME as other brands!
I've seen the chemical analysis of fuels when I worked at ford and we were looking into fuel in oil dilution (bore wash to most people!).

i use Morrisons SUL in mine. its cheap and seems really good.
my car runs like shit and dets like crazy on normal unleaded. when i use BP Ultimate, it was good, not as good as Optimax though. i'd personally rate Morrisons SUL equal to, or over Ultimate imo.
different cars at different specs will behave different though.
btw. LRP should make no difference in RST, surely even S1's had hardened valve seats?

Not just 'different additives'.. what are the differences, and what effect do they have?

The difference is how the petrol is blended...
It all starts from base stock, same with any oil.... and as people on here have said yes there are basic standards the fuel has to meet. Things like sulphur content being a very important one.
From that point you add lots of other chemicals into your base "petrol":
Frition modifiers
Detergents
Anti-Foaming agent
Detonation surpressents (e.g Teraethal Lead now banned!)
And its the quantites and qualitiy of these extra's if you like that determins how good the fuel is.
A super market can save a load of money by ordering high detergent fuel... with very little else in it. Its cheaper for them to buy but also remember they tend to order absoulty loads of fuel in one go!!!

even better than optimax, and far better than the Total super unleaded I used before. It may cost abit more but I think it's worth it.
