Default Who's used this plastidip stuff then?

I've just got a tin through the post to do the grille on my octavia, Just wondering now what to do with the vertical black plastic parts? only really want to cover the chrome surround. Should i go over the plastic too? or try to mask off the bulk of the plastic and pull back the edges as you do on paint?

grille looks like this (car is blue)

and should look like this when done

no need to mask up just spray the part you want too then peel of any excess. or you could just spray the whole thing

I sprayed the whole thing on my Fabia, it looked great for a while but it chips really easily despite being "chip resistant".

I'm taking mines off again to get sprayed properly

its all about hydro-dipping... plasti-dip is crap.

Doing dipping end of the month on a few bits.

Looks so easy, a 10 year old could do it,

Make sure you give it about 5 coats for a good finish.

I bought some vinyl wrap stuff from b&q for £8 yesterday. Not too hard to do if you watch it on you tube first and use a hair dryer for the corners.

I did the front grilles on my old car in plastidip, it's ok but does fade pretty quickly, it certainly isn't a permanent finish. Great though if you want to spray it on and leave it for a few months to see if you like it or not!

Is that fablon?

Used to use that circa 1998 for doing sunstrips and making the bits of doors between the windows black lol

Ahhhhh Fablon.... A couple of quid a roll back in the late nineties. We used to buy the rolls by the dozen. Chop them in half and then go round the car-parks (McD's, Tesco etc) selling them to Roy Basser's at a fiver a sunstrip....
