temperture gauge
Hi all
I have a Focus saloon diesel 1.8 td, I was driving yesterday and the temperature gauge went to maximum, I lost power and steering, and the dash lights came on. I stopped, removed the header tank lid and water gurgled out of the tank! I waited 10 minutes, started the car and carried on driving, the temperature gauge was back to middle and all seemed fine. I drove about 3 miles and the temperature went up again but this time the engine didn't stop, I lost power but the lights came on! Any ideas please? thank you

Sounds like you have a problem with the flow of the engine coolant, were the fans kicking in/operating? You could have a jammed thermostat or a blockage in the cooling system somewhere You definitely need to be looking in this area on the car, don't ever open the header expansion tank if the car is showing that it's getting hot/overheating you may get scalded badly, the dash lights coming on and the loss of engine and steering power is due to the engine overheating, get it checked out
