Default Cossie chip with photos, who can tell me more about it?

Obviously its a bit late to be calling MSD, and I wouldn't want to bother them for advice on 2nd hand items I have for sale lol

Anyway I have provisionally sold this chip and the seller has asked me a couple of questions, which I cannot answer, so if anyone on here can assist then you would be doing us both a favour. I bought this chip some time ago, but never used it, so I know very little about it other that the spec that Stu kindly supplied me a while ago.

So, first question, why does it have a board on it, aparently its an L6 chip, I run L8 so I didn't really pay much attention to the board until the seller asked me about why it looks like this? All my stuff is L8 and doesn't have a board soldered onto it.

Also, maybe worringly, and I honestly never noticed, but when i sent the pics to the person who wants to buy it, he replied telling me that there is a pin missing is it supposed to be like this?

Pm stu or james the number I'm sure they would be able to tell you the spec.

Pin I'm not sure about I'd guess as its a middle one its been removed does it have a cut mark from small side cutters?

Rog,

if the missing pin is supposed to be there you can buy a whole new strip online or at Maplins. They are usually very simple to change over.

The extra board is the encryption board an I'm pretty sure that pin shouldn't be missing, you can't just buy that board either you'd have to send it back to msd as its there own encryption

I have an MSD chip knocking about at home, I'll check it when I get in if it helps at all.

Thanks for that definately looks like the one I have is damaged then I think the buyer still wants it as he said he may just get it fixed. I'll discount the price and see what he says. Appreciate the help guys!

Just a side note, these chips are like a lot of electrical components, static sensitive... holding them in the palm of your hand pins down is a little risky, better not to touch the pins at all (unless the above chip is already dead of course? lol).
