Default Duratec Turbo Gearbox choice ?

Is there a Gearbox that's able to take the power of well tuned Duratec Turbo engine available form the ford/Mazda range ?
What choice of boxes are there, I see people Turbo charging their Fiesta STs' , do they stick with the std box ??

If you use a mtx gearbox, you need one from a duratec car as the bell housing is different to other ford engines, mk3 mondeos and mk2 focus have the one you want

I've got a car in at the moment that's a turbocharged 2.3 Duratec and that's running a MTX75 gearbox.

I know Hewland made some final drive kits at 5.0:1 which were used in a lot of NASP rally cars, would be way too short for what you're after, but thats not to say there aren't other variations around.

There is a 6speed conversion with gear kits available for the mtx 75 with a atb will be great and also the late ib5 which can have bell housing mods or changes.

The Gearbox choice will ultimately decide the engine on the application I have for this !
I supplied an R n D Dog box kitted ex Super Production Gearbox a few years back to a customer whos fitted it onto a Duratec N/A @ 280bhp ,hes recently broken it after not really very much running at all so im concerned about the MTX range of boxes in general , add a turbo and it could be a recipe for disaster !
I think I tend to wards using the Mk2 Focus engine and gearbox , the hubs im using will accept the Driveshafts without mods so that's a bonus but it then puts the car into an unlimited category with a 2.5 litre engine ,not the end of the world if the Gearboxes on these motors are better , there arer also Gear kits available and the tuning of the Volvo 5 pot seems to be light years ahead too .
Anyone got any issues with RS focus Mk2 Gearboxes ??

mtx75 will handle 400/500 hp synchro's are a week point but this box will take alot of abuse.
gear sets and modified gear towers are available,
plus they are such a nice box to work on/in.

I have been using the mtx75 on engines since the first year they were available on the rs2k. Some of these boxes are still going today after many engine changes an upgrades even into different cars. Out of all the box options I would say this is the cheapest value for money. If you have a massive budget then there will always be something bigger and better.

I've been in a car with a six-speed MTX

It was an RS2000 Maxi F2 car. They had an MTX fitted with six-speeds inside the original casings by remanufacturing the internals and reducing the size of reverse gear apparently.
