Default Volvo V70 T5's, anyone in the know?!

Does anyone have any experience with the old Volvo V70 T5's? I need a cheapy cheap large smoker to get about it until i find a car I really want, dont do many miles but want something big/practical but not a van!

I have seen is a 2000 reg T5 with all the goodies, full leather, full history, 150k on the clock, its under a grand and only down the road but have no idea what to look for on them! What sort of performance figures do they have, anything dodgy about em?! Reliability issues?

Cheers

Crap turning circle and I mean terrible, drink fuel, parts can be pricey but comfy and not to bad to drive

i've had an 02 plate v70 t5, awesome bits of kit.

is it a manual or auto?

if its Auto then the geartronic gearboxes can be an issue. there is a yellow dipstick low down righthand side if looking into engine bay, pull it out with engine in Park but running, the colour should be a red'ish colour. if its brown and smells burnt, then its a sign of neglect and will need replacing. not a cheap job.
Gearbox should be silky smooth up and down the gears.

they are heavy on juice as said, expect 20mpg round town

they are also heavy on suspension parts & brakes, so watch for any nasty clonks and bits are not cheap and not the easiest to work on.

other than that, check for normal history including cambelts etc

engines are bullet proof and sound awesome

only other thing is electrics, check that all the lights on the dash work and go off as intended.

quite common for bulbs in the dash to blow, not a easy job either
