Indeed alps.
Especially if you had a lead, i wouldnt be going near the cops until ive done my own digging and come up with nothing.
Someones trying to offer the car is probably only the middle man. Tell the cops, the cops visit him, he will deny everything and they wont have evidence to hold him and guess who he will be on the phone to the second the cops are out the door? Thats right, the thief who will be disposing of it ASAP after that.
And for what?? the police arent going to follow up loads of dead ends until they find the thief - they dont give a shit for a car.
You are better going through the middle man to view it as a fake buyer to gain your own intelligence on the cars location. Then once you have that, go to the police and get them to attend to prevent breach of the peace.

Ok i dont get it, You can get a crime reference off the cops - insurance happy.
Youve admitted the cops are slow to do fuck all.
So why arent you pursuing the sale offer via your mate?? its the only way you stand a chance of getting close to it again. Obviously you get your mate to do the talking and set up a meet for a deal etc and you happen to show up once you get a text that the car is there.
Really not that hard.
Or are you more worried about getting your head kicked in than getting your pride and joy back??

I think someone should set up a "Vigilante" Car Retrieval Company. Five or six 17 stone lads that like to retrieve stolen property from F_ing thieves. I would think insurance companies or owner would pay for a retrieval company to locate and recover stolen autos?

Over here the criminals have more rights than the victims of thier crimes. Youd almost certainly get into trouble doing your investigations for "invading thier privacy" which is now a human right and often stops the police getting a warrant on known criminals, not to mention you WOULD get done for breaking and entering and excessive use of force if you raided a thiefs warehouse and tied up the criminals trying to flee.
its a fucking joke.
Oh and even as first timers youd get a longer sentance than the scum you caught who will get a slap on the wrist. The courts and justice system especially dislikes vigilante behaviour and often sets harsh sentances or maximum sentances to "set an example" and also to try and stamp out what could be the start of a criminal career.

The laws in the UK seem terribly biased towards the guilty.
There should be widespread protests over UK law. Maybe then the laws would change? Elect new persons who want to change the laws. Get rid of the old MP's and elect new ones that want reform. I am sure a large majority of the public would want a better legal system?
This is getting away from a car related theme. Lets hope the A-Holes get caught.

Anyone that knows me knows I do as I say so (i'm no hero as you want too put it) I can understand why you may want or wanted too have police involved but as you have said yourself it hasn't really got you anywhere and the moment they get a sniff of the police they'll fuck it off. I'd get some mates to drag the cunt into a van and have him away and beat up until he gives it up, he cant really go and say what's happened as most criminals don't want too get them selves nicked! (not that he can prove it)

once the dust has settled and it's either ocme back or gone for good then it's time to name and shame the potential crooks, just because their names are int he frame doesn't mean to say they had anything ot do with it, and bashing innocents gets you more time than bashing proper crims

I wouldn't have posted anything on here if the thieves are members on here and have read that and know the cops are in pursuit they could just get rid of the motor via fire or crusher destroying the evidence and deny all knowledge.
hope you get it back its shit some people think they have a right to your hard earned property

The UK is a haven for terrorists, murderers, thieves, paedo's, politicians and all sorts of criminals.
Hoping for the safe return of the car, and slow painful death for the thieves.

Sorry to hear this,a friend had his saff stolen from a lockup and it wasn't insured, rang the police and it got us nowhere, offered a reward for it,spoke with the local gypsys and was told they knew where it was and the person knew what it was worth in bits, no names were mentioned just that they wanted Ł1200 for it otherwise nothing, sadly a Ł1200 loss was less than a Ł6k 4x4 saff, once we handed the cash to one traveller he made a phone call to somebody, we waited 10 minute and was go en a location where it was dropped off, we went collected it and police came to the house to take fingerprints etc from it as we knew who had the car but never a location, I agree you should never have to pay for your own car but sadly it was the least loss in a lose lose situation

Im with "ritehooker" on this, you cant go around bashing people up unless you want jail. I cant really say what I would do in this situation. Possibly find out where the car is and go talk to whoevers there and sort it out calmly (id go alone to avoid coming off threatening), if that fails then you go to the cops, if that fail id prob pinch it back, cant get wrong for sealing your own car, worst case is braking and entering.
But without the full story and being in his situation you cant really say. As for all these wana be internet hard cases SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!

No news , bloke who was touting it about , was looking for a place to break it 3 weeks ago , bull shitting me saying someone else has it and he can't grass them as they would do him good and proper , don't believe a word , he has had enough time to try and sort something , leaving it to plod to lift him , the OIC is back in at the weekend, what a joke that is , everything stops when they have there leave , would have thought the police were better organised , hopeless , they have just given the guy more time to move it or loose it
