How did the rear 1/4 glass no break in that collision?? The shell flex must have been enormous.

That was on fb ages ago, think someone said the driver didn't make it out alive, which I guess isn't surprising...

Newer cars are stronger for sure and have airbags and side impact bars etc but I still wouldn't fancy my chances of surviving an impact like that concentrated in that area.

I don't think that impact damage is a result of another vehicle unless its shaped like a tree.

My uncle bent his Mk2 escort around a tree just like that in the early 80s and survived with just a few scratches, at the point of impact he was thrown out the other side an onto the road as the lazy sod didn't have his seatbelt on which actually saved his life. I have pics some where must try to find them.

The tree just had a few little marks on the bark, you would have had no idea it had bent a car just like that one

My mate crashed it, going way too fast into a s bend lost it, the car went through a few trees ending up standing up against a tree in a camp site.

He was found up the road as he fell out of the car during the crash. Not a mark on him, but still pissed.

I reshelled it, it's still going now as far as I know, all silver with a carbon bonnet and roof

Don't like seeing these pics, I know it's a fact of life but as said above, every photo has a REAL personal story to go with it.
I was involved in a very serious accident as a passenger in one of these in 2003 and was trapped in the car for a brief period and was very lucky, only sheer randomness is why I'm probably typing this now.

Always shocking to see pictures like this. Earlier this year I was coming home one Sunday afternoon and the car infront of me left the road it's was only doing 30mph. It mounted the pavement and hit a tree. I got out and ran over and there was a lady in the drivers seat. I stayed with her till the emergency services arrived and they cut her out but she had died at the scene. It really hit home to me and made me think that if your time is up its up. She wasn't doing anything wrong not speeding or driving erratically just hit a patch of ice on the bend and it was all over. Was an older car she was in and if was something newer I don't know but maybe it would of been a different outcome.

Sure both the occupants died in that rally Saff

That's the dead driver in there as it was a left hooker.

Makes you think these old fords are like tinfoil when they wrap up, like those crash test vids where the 3dr bonnet decapitates your head.
