Default Rev Counter Wiring on CVH

Tried to fit a rev counter on a 1.4 carb'd CVH yesterday and it reads half what it should, what can I do to sort this? It was wired in straight to the coil negative and body earth. The rev counter came off another 4cyl car.

are you sure it was working ok before fitting it in your car?

send an email to fast ford and they might print it in their mag and get you an answer (in a couple of months) or try dan from fast ford mag on here to see if he can get an answer quicker

Coil triggered tacho's normally just run from the coil negative not the body as well.

Im guessing it was a tacho from a car with a coilpack. Your now trying to wire it to a single coil?
Correct?

If so, theres your problem

I thought they had to be earthed? Even if not it shouldn't make a difference.
Rev Counter came from another 4cyl single coil.

Why shouldn't it make a difference? It's an earth trigger and you've earthed it all the time.
It might not be the problem, but worth trying IMO.
