Default 215mph at Brunters in a 9e17

This Porsche 9E17 reached 215mph during the latest Vmax only 3 street cars have been faster than that in the UK .

Only Porsche ffs, SVM Skyline & Joels Viper quicker than that im in awe.
Surely we must send cars to compete against these incredible machines even if we cant beat them. Come on lads just cos im not able to enter dont mean a Cossie cant do battle at the next event.

Just found out its running 950bhp so about right i guess in a car with good aero.

Do you think you have a chance of getting near that rod? Would be impressive if you pulled a 214 or even faster!
Seriously nice poker though bet that sounded nice going up there flat out!

My friend did a 220 mph run in his mac f1 at bruntingthorpe....cost him Ł14k to have the Mclaren factory there and he is the fastest recorded customer car.

His 200 mph runs have been documented in evo on the autobahns and his car has been on the cover with his carrera gt a few times...he is well known as Flemke on pistonheads. Has a massive collection.

That's a mad looking car.

I'd say the reason so few have done it, as have that many really tried ? I'd say there are a few GTR's that are capable of doing it. SVM has done it, but one of their other customers cars did 208mph in the standing 1km at TOTB last year. So 215mph for that car shouldnt pose any problems. Likewise another white GTR did 203mph over the 1km.
Over longer distance, 215+ should be easy for it too.

Have no Supras in the UK done much over 200 ? Would have thought there would be some of them able to do it.

We did 210.2mph back in 2005 with the old engine & 150 shot of gas (880bhp).
We have the potential to run 1100bhp now with a 'pushed' 200 shot but intend to risk about 940bhp if the car is ever finished that would allow 212/213mph if all went well.

Who said anything about all the suppliers on the planet after MK only one has been tried. We agreed a spec got a price & i paid Mark. Many months down the line nothing has been supplied & this week a lesser Spec has been offered we dont want that. The last 2 days Mark has been trying to sort it out but ive heard nothing.
Always remember cars are your business & a priority, since i retired mine is less & less of interest to me. Ive been to MAD perhaps three times in that 6 months to take a loom over & ive not even looked at the car . Its gardening time for me now so my car is not even on the list let alone a priority .
A Mercedes SLK is much more likely than getting my car finished just need to convince the Missus a 4th car is a must.

Mile was 202mph at Woodbridge

Aerodynamics and gearing are my biggest killers. Acceleration is fairly good up to about 180mph, after that it gets much harder because it has no aerodynamics. 202 with my 17's was around 6700rpm too...I dont have much usable rpm's at that point with that sort of load against the engine.

With taller tyres and longer distance, I'd say 210 would be possible, maybe a little more.

But I have absolutely no interest in running a speed event over an unlimited distance, or one where you simply hold it as long as you can.
If the speed cannot be achieved in the standing mile or a shorter distance, I really dont care.

200+ in a mile really became my only top speed related goal, and I managed that. Mind you....TOTB has dropped to 1km for past few years. I think there's a new target there lol My best at that so far is about 182mph or so. Definitely room for improvement.

But you've retired and have lots of time to sort this (so do it!)! Mark would have come good so I don't know why you didn't wait, if cars are really of less interest then so be it but I'm not sure I believe that for one minute!

220+ mph Porsche at the Texas Mile - October 2010 - YouTube[/url]
There is no doubting it's performance. However...others have commented that at one recent event...he basically needed to remove the engine/trans to change the plugs.
Now for anyone to have to do that at a single event....doesnt shout super reliable to me. Although I think he has done 230+ ?

It is an awesome machine though. Surprised there arent more Porsche's pushing hard at the big speed stuff.

For mile events or similar....the Ford GT still holds the record at 283mph. Then it's the likes of the UnderGround Racing Lamborghinis, which are superb.

No doubt the GTR's will follow, but dont quite think they're quite there yet.

Well done to Ken and the guys at 9E on the build, the spec on this car has been building over the last couple of years.
Not sure on the pic that Rod put up as that isn't the 9E car as it looks like a standard 996 GT2 with graphics.
The black car above is Leons Ruff CTR3
