Default Cossie ECU questions.....L8 or P8 ?????????

I'm confused by L1 L2 L4 L6 L8 P8 blah.......

Some questions for those in the know.........NOT a quizz.........lol

a. What is the standard ECU that's fitted to late Saph Cossie's (92/93 models)

b. What is the standard ECU that's fitted to Big Turbo Escort Cossie (92/93 models)

c. Where can I buy a MINT or NEW engine wiring loom to suit either of the above....i.e. complete loom that plugs into the ECU and into all engine sensors.

d. As "c" above, would I be better off getting a custom loom made up by Dingy?????

TIA

a. L8 (with lambda control software)
b. P8 (early ones *might* have a CO pot )
c. Pectel / Ahmed / Mike R
d. Possibly yes, speak to him - peeps seem happy with his looms.

OK, thanks for answers so far

Next, choosing the best one of these two:

L8 ?
P8 ?

Which would be best for a live mapped 330 BHP engine on greens/T34 turbo, to be used for fast road/track days WITH NICE LOW (MOT passable) emisions????

And finaly, which would be best for a live mapped 500 BHP engine on 750 or 1000 CC (MSD) injectors/T4 turbo, to be used for fast road/track days WITH NICE LOW (MOT passable) emisions????

TIA........

L8 will control 790cc injectors. We are unsure how P8 will handle them but we will find out around the end of April.

Doug, speak with Ryan, he will do you an AWESOME brand new loom for a very reasonable price, all new wires, connectors, pins etc.....they are a work of art (And cheaper than Pectel and other manufacturers looms )

P8 will vary from Ł350 to Ł500+ depending.

L8 as a general rule are around Ł200.

Daz/Gareth thanks for replies...........

So what (apart from anti-lag) does a P8 offer that an L8 cant/wont do?????

I.E. what are the disadvantages of using the much cheaper L8 when compared to P8 ?????

p8 has more memory (which i wouldnt mind a bit more of )

p8 runs closed loop boost control (well i think so)

p8 can run coil packs with a software change!

thinking about it,, either wil suit you,, i wouldnt run pectel software though amd get closed loop lambda control for the road car

also if i was paying for a live map, i would do so on grays

you have to be using as many of the functions on P8 as we know about to make it worth the while having over L8, but i t does have alot of functions that L8 doesnt have as std that are very advantageous to your low emisions that your are very keen on ( )

the key to either is someone who really can do you a live map , and it really must be live , useing the biggest injector combo will run beautifully all the way through the rev range

So how do you tell the difference between a L8 and a P8 ? (part numbers on the lid, or another way ?)
