Crap job - sound deadening removal
Well, the sunshine makes me wanna get out and do stuff. Last autumn I took the seats out of the car. I am going to be fitting new ones but decided that I would remove the sound deadening from the floor first.
OMG what a shitty job. I have done all the rear and passenger front. Just drivers front, tunnel and a bit up the front bulk head to do.
This stuff don't wanna come off easy. It will be quite a weight saving when done though - I will weigh it before I chuck it out.
I am not sure what to paint the floor with now though. I might just clean it up and use some matt gloss paint in there as its mainly a track car and so looks are not too important. It looks hoirrible at the moment though as the car is red and now has grey areas where the pads were.
What are your thoughts for painting the floor?

as above heat it up. If you dont have that a scrapper will o the job fine. Then petrol or white spirit to clean the remaining bits up. Wipe and sand down, primer it and paint it.

Having tried heat and cold on several cars I'd advise cold every time now..
I was lucky enough to source a big bag of dry ice once to do a car.. That IS the way forward! It makes it so brittle that a gentle tap knocks it off.
The other source of cold I used was a co2 fire extinguisher. Obviously you have to be very cautious with ventilation.. Keep your head high and you should be ok

I'm doing it cold. Its hard work but better than it going all gooey when hot and then the sticky residue it leaves.
Bugger of a job either way but I will get it sorted.
I will wipe it over with thinners, scotch brite and paint with non drip gloss I think.
