I use stuff from the main dealers cupboard...
Duet Wash & Wax to wash with...
Some times 'Finesse' and then AutoSmart polish
and for the interior all the AutoSmart stuff like Smart Dash etc...
Works imo Gives me that new car smell...

I have started using a trick given to me off an RS500 owner on here. Mix 50/50 AutoGlym Resin and super high gloss. Put it on and leave it in the garage over night and Ohhhhh Myyyyy Goddddddd.....
A hell of a finish after you buff it off.

Very interesting thread this. I must admit to having bufty tendencies, but IMO it's just not feasable on a daily driver.
However, I am fortunate to have a rather nice shade of black on my Escort (Ash Black), and love it when it's polished up well. My routine goes as follows:
1) Give it all a bloody good hose off, including underneath.
2) Wash the wheels and arches with Zip wax in hot water.
3) Rinse off the wheels and soak the bodywork again.
4) Wash the bodywork with Zip wax and hot water, working in stages, rinsing regularly.
5) Chamois.
6) Polish with Autoglym Super Resin, using a cotton polishing cloth.
7) Detail with Autoglym and Williams.
I do steps 1-5 every fortnight or so and 1-7 every month or two.
Any advice on better products and cloths to use, bearing in mind my normal routine, would be greatly appreciated.

richm, yeah tell me about it.
I used to use Turtle wax colour magic, only black powder from that, which was ok. It didn't last for long though, that's why I switched to Autoglym.
