My grandmother had a GSI 2000 back when they were quite new! Was quite a strange car for her to have, seemed odd even at the time. She always used to have Merc's! My Grandad was/is (still now at 80) a car dealer and she used to get a different car every 6 months or so.

I used to wash it for her and had to drive it down the road to our barns where the hose was. Was quite enjoyable as a young lad.

Awesome cars in their day. Funny this topic should be on here today as I spent all day yesterday on the Dyno with a very rare calibra turbo DTM in awesome condition. Was very nice indeed and brought back some nice memories.

had 2 gsi's but never had a turbo. always wanted a grey or blue cav turbo, gsi out the box are great cars, drop them 60mm and they stick to the road like glue. been thinking of getting another gte 16v last few weeks but rare and prices for anything pre 92 is strong to say the least

My brother had two GLS versions of the mkIII cavalier, always lusted after the GSi but never got one in the end. They were nice cars in their time, I have often contemplated one but never went for it.
The calibre posted before is pure car porn. Bet an immaculate one would be worth shit loads.

Had a silver one back in 2004/5, bit rough on the arches but had the engine fettled and was a really really quick motor, one of the quickest 2.0 litres about, deffo the quickest 2.0 n/a I'd ever owned, would have chewed up an RS2000 mk5/6 and spat it out as I've had both, no comparison IMO. Really good on juice too, seem to remember it was up high 30's/40 mpg. Always started first time as well, never used oil or water etc, just the body let it down. Had a turbo interior as well, mega comfy, ended up out in Ireland and the interior in another Cav after I'd wasted it one night on the Mumbles road and we ended up chatting.
Only paid Ł500 for the car with 10 months MOT!!!!
Happy days, would have another in a heartbeat but their getting like all the 90's cars now, mega bucks for a good one. In fact there was a minter on Retro rides t'other week for Ł3K odd, but it did look stunning.

Mate had a 4x4 Gsi, yep - with a fucked transfer box Put the fuse in and it crunched like fook.

I had a couple mk2 Cavaliers in the 90s, a Commander which was silver 1600 hatch with anthracite wheels, I had it painted a then new Vauxhall colour Caribic blue, like a turquoise type colour, proper mid 90s mobile, lowered on some 15" Tekno Maxima, similar to RS 7 spokes but thinner spokes, had an Sri engine in at and Lxi Recaros.

Then had a white Sri 130 hatch lowered on Gsi Cav wheels, some bastard wrote it off, he came round corner in town on wrong side of road as I was pulling away and took the front off the 130 Ended up jigging it out, new front end and respray, then sold it. 10 months later insurance paid out for it, win win!

Never owned one. A couple of mates had them back in the day so got a fair few lifts in them. They didn't hang about and sounded awesome with an induction kit and exhaust

I very nearly bought a Cavilier GSi Turbo 4x4. I went to buy it, took it on a test drive and the transfer box destroyed itself.

That was as close as I got.

I really like a Cav Turbo.. a guy I know had one, stripped it to a bare shell, welded up the parts which needed it and bought numerous gucci parts for it (suspension, GT30 etc)... then he got a bird and shortly after that, the shell got scrapped and project abandoned.

Cheers,
Grant

I had a white cav gsi back in 1999, had 17" momo arrows, magnex exhaust and manifold. It got sideswiped buy a drunk driver and written off. Was very lucky it wasn't head on, we were on our way home from booking our wedding reception that night. was a good car and the missus loved driving it. I still have the front and rear headrests and dashboard rubber mats somewhere here in work and have the photos here that were sent to the insurance ombudsman, I paid 4k for the car and 6 months later after the crash Norwich union offered me Ł1700 cheeky gits.

Cav GSI's were awesome at the time they came out (1991 IIRC)

Felt mega modern for the time (certainly way more than a sierra), they did 60 in about 7 seconds, went onto about double the motorway limit and still did over 40mpg on a run, totally epic all rounders for the money, and very reliable too.

imo the C20XE is one of the best na engines for power and ecomony ever made. the engine looked great. and stuck in a nova/corsa when your 18 years old was a hoot!

cheap cars used to love my wee corsa gsi redtop, 140mph for fun and made uk subarus look slow!

Absolutely love mk3 cavs, there was a time I thought I would always have 1 as mine was so good.
My main 1 was a mk2 2.0 glsi with a tuned redtop fitted,it was my daily,my weekend car,track car,shopping car,works van,back road blaster.
It was such a good all rounder and I'd have another, especially a 2.5 v6 if I could find 1 and had the need for 1.
Had a gsi for a short while and it was great,my pals all had vauxhalls, mainly Astra gte's but a few had cavaliers and they are the cars and memories I think of now and again.

Always liked these, I used to have a bogo 1.8 lsi which was a great runner for years. Always fancied a maroon gsi, well not as much as a saff

That one is priced quite strong but I guess they are pretty rare so someone will pay it.

A good mate of mine owns this Turbo and has done for a few years now, quite well known in the Vauxhall world:

And another mate owns this stunner of a GSI, again quite well known and he uses it hard when it's out!
