Default FAO on people running the GT35

Dont matter if your runnig the .86 housing as i think not many would run the 1.06 but i have to because of the higher comp ratio i am using I guess i will have to add on another 500rpm spool up time!

So when does yours spool up because i hear it is better than the T4?

Also what BHP did you make and at what boost pressure?

.....i guess i will make around 630bhp @ 2.5bar on pump fuel and alot more on 102ron @ 2.5bar as i understand you get more gain on higher comp than lower comp from the race fuel....obviously this is subject to the engine holding together and my head being ported correctly..as THAT is eesential for making the power without over boosting the turbo! Plus i am not garanteed goin to the dyno instead just live mapping on road and final @ Brunters as this will save me ALOT of cash!...I will however put it on a dyno pack if it dont go to dyno just to shut the haters up

On the road i think i am goin to run it @ 500bhp so what boost pressure do you think i will achieve that at? (The reason being i want the engine reliable so its only got to do a couple of top speed runs @ monte boost to acheive the 190mph plus target...plus lets face it...over 500bhp on the road is it nessecary..infact is over 300???!!)

1.05 is a hooj housing for a 2litre, ive seen 3litre Supras in the USA get 900+bhp with .86 housings, but its one of them trade-offs, as a big housing like that will really lower your pre turbo backpressure

Providing the idiots DONT start posting crap cause of the thread starter, this could be a good post

Anyone have any real number or info on the difference in spool up time with a turbo, JUST changing the exhaust housing size, from a small one to a biggun?

Phil,

Vince (Universal Turbo's) quoted me 24 - 26 LBS PSI for 500/520 BHP with a GT35 - but that would have been with "typical" a .86 housing

Edited to say:
Some of the EVO boys (high comp: 8.1:1 ish) are using the equivilent HKS turbo (slightly diff exhaust housing) and getting 500 + BHP at 1.6 BAR.................. ..........makes you sick, dont it?

for the untechnical of us why does your comp ratio mean you have to run such a big exhaust housing?

As its gonna be running alot hotter than a lo comp and i can keep the temp down by running a bigger exhaust housing....thats all i know..LOL...its just safer...ok it means running more lag but the off boost drivability is what i want.

Phil
Mine made 507bhp @ 1.2 bar if that helps.
Rod
ps. Prob is it feels so slow you think you can push it faster. if you have 640bhp no way you can run it with 500 its like pulling a Tanker.

What makes you think I have any experience of those exhaust housings?

and I was under the impression that this was an ImaRacing 700 specced and built engine?? you couldn't possibly want or need any input from anyone else could you?

FYI, Ignition advance can actually reduce turbo spool up time
and may not make the engine feel any better off boost.

As an example...

Retarding the ignition around the 500 to 800 rpm before the point at which the turbo starts
to make 10 to 20% of its boost can actually decrease turbo lag.

Obviously these figures depend on engine spec and can only be
determined with live mapping and experience.

This is because more energy is allowed to leave the cylinder giving more energy to the exhaust impeller.
If advanced, the combustion is all but over reducing the available gas
expansion before it leaves the cylinder.

DIY...means built and specced

Yes Phil what have you spec,d
Port sizes on cyl head ? -----------Yes to my spec (better than Karls !)
Diff combustion chambers ? --------
Camshaft lift , duration ? -------my choice of already avalible camshafts
Timing for camshaft ? --------will muck around to get optimum setting
Inlet manifold volume ? ------the inlet is capable thanks
Your own ex manifold ? ------see above
Spec manufactured pistons to your dimensions ? ----
Diff width piston rings ? -----
Short , Long rods, ---just right thanks
Crankshaft to your design ?---proper bo thanks
Just to say Ryan is a COCK The property dealer who uses Discovery home and leisure for advice

ALG1K...i am the thickest, the most retarded, stupid person on God's Earth..and Karl claims i cannot achieve my goal...What will that make him *if* i acheive it

As for designing the engine...no i didnt, just specced it to what i think will work even though Mark has said he wouldnt do it like that So i hold my hands up no to DIY i am a fraud

So what you are saying is that DIY is actually designing an engine yourself from scratch ie making every componant aswell ....can pro tuners do that then?
