I'm such a muppet!
I started taking the gearbox off my 205 GTi before christmas to fit a Quaife diff, but the thing wouldn't come off, after weeks of wondering why (and dismantling the diff whilst in the gearbox thinking the long driveshaft had welded itself in) I just realised the thin metal plate on the inside of the flywheel was still on and stopping the box coming off! :wall: :wall: :wall:
What makes it worse is that I did exactly the same with my Saph Cossie when taking the engine out (although I used a crane for that and it just ripped the metal plate apart  ) Will I ever learn?? So, 3 months to take a gearbox off, is that a record?? Now i've got to put it back on again!! :wall: |
