Default Potential HPI check issue

After some advice really. Possibly taking a car in px for the one im selling. Have done a proper hpi check on it and it shows the following:

Plate Transfer

The current plate was transferred to this vehicle on 26/11/2012
***** was applied to this vehicle on 27/09/2005
This VRM has been recorded as being written-off
The insurance write-off was recorded on 11/01/2006 against a BMW 318 CI

Now the car im taking in px is not a 318 ci. Could it be a typo as the car is a 320cd. Fairly similar or what else could be up? Quite confused tbh.

if its on a private reg then that could be a prob?
its a can of worms there, seen it a few times when the plate flags up as written off etc
even after its been transfered to another car
best check see if the chassis number on the car your getting matches the chassis number on the car written off to confirm

Yeah need to check the chassis numbers to make sure. HPI says that the chassis number is not recorded as being written off etc.

Anybody know if cat "d" shows on hpi check?

Also, the plate that was written off was a private plate, the current plate is standard one. Its just the dates dont seem to make sense

to me it sounds like the car previously had a plate on it and that plate was previously on a car that was written off , i hope that makes sense lol

On the Hpi report do you have all green circles and a red on plate transfer indicating its had one? If that's the case it's fine, just means that reg has been on a car which has taken one at some point.
To put your mind at rest and to confirm what I have written above, call Hpi customer services, they're pretty helpful and worth a call for your piece of mind.

I had this years ago with an XR4x4. It was a case of the history follows the plate. Because the plate has been on this car at some point in its life, it gets recorded against the hpi. Nothing to worry about in the slightest.
