Default Minimal tools to rebuild an engine?

As above, what's the bare minimum I need to strip/rebuild a typical engine? And any other useful tools?

Ben.

1/4 socket set, 1/2 socket set, torque wrench. May need different sockets if doing a zetec, they use a t55 for the head bolts I think.

Depends on the engine, and depends what you mean by rebuild TBH.

If its just throwing a set of rings in, then a honer and a 99 quid halfords socket set and a set of 3 quid feeler gauges and a torque wrench would do me fine for something that trivial.

Yeah I had to get some half inch torx pieces earlier as the 3/8ths aren't man enough that come in the Halfords socket set.

I'd be stripping the head, unsure on what spring compressor to get though as there seems to be two types.

If your stripping the head, youll need a valve spring compressor. Depending on engine you may need valve seal pliers too.
