TEG is definitely one where you drive on and reverse off. Been there a couple of times.

No lol, im going to make some nice platforms to sit infront of the front rollers, so you can put the brake on and drive forwards onto the platform, then reverse off straight over the rollers

Ya know...that might actually be what TEG do. Been over a year since I was there.

They also have small platforms to sit between the rollers when driving over them so the car doesnt fall into them until you want it to

the rollers i used to use had a platform i bewteen the rollers that you could raise up pnuematically and it would simulataneously lift the tyre out of the gap and apply an inverse shaped drum brake type shoe to the rollers.

I should imagine that cell is going to hire out well to and managed in stu's typical OCD fashion it should do very well

Are the rollers going to be sat on top of the floor rather than mounted down into it?

I always think they look better mounted flat.

Not that it really matters one way or the other.

Soundproofing all up looks awesome

We haven't decided yet if we are going to build a platform around it or not. There are very few pros to doing so and lots of cons, but it has to be said Roger Clarke's cell must be one of the best looking cells around, love it.

Yeah its a case of do you sacrifice ease of access to the rollers, and presumably reduced cooling, just to make people's jaws hit the deck or not, lol

Must be difficult for you with having both visual OCD and technical OCD, you must be encountering the human equivalent of a divide by zero error everytime you try and weigh up the options

I can see no real benefit of installing it into the ground. IMO it looks no better or worse, as can be seen by RCM's setup above.

And above ground, access to secure vehicles to the rollers will be vastly improved.

The biggest benefits are ccess without steps all at ground level, the ability to drive forward easily to get the vehicles off and it looks great.

However, it comes with the disadvantage that tie down access is horribly restricted and cooling is restricted to the underside for removing the critical exhaust heat.

I was in the dyno room the other night, and can confirm this will be an awesome place to be.
The detail and effort that has been put in is amazing.
The feel when in the room is like being in a recording studio, (if you have been in one) there is a dead atmosphere, no sound reverb, no echo, just absorption.

I even had my son shouting in the dyno while I looked in from the window and could only just hear him, and this was at 6pm at night on a sunday when there is no other sound around.

And with the fan room and offices doors both open and no fan in the huge hole in the dyno cell wall I might add...

It should be significantly better when that fan hole is blocked with a nice big fan and the fireproof and sound treated doors are able to be closed. (IE: We move all the plasterboards leaning against them that stops them closing. LOL)

True there was a gaping hole in the wall that I could actually walk through and the sound was still quiet.

How do you stop noise coming throught the fan when installed? Is it not like like a massive hole still?

when its actually spinning, it should chop the sounds waves up a fair bit, but ultimately you wont be able to make it totally sound proof through a fan.
But stu is aiming for "not annoy the neighbours" levels of sound rather than total silence of course.

Its a 100mph Centrifugal so it should actually work pretty well as the sound path is complex and of course pressurised with air traveling against the direction of sound, so it will actually be pretty good, but like Chip says, the aim is nothing to do with creating a quiet space, just lowering levels to be kind to neighbours and staff.

The final piece of the dyno cell puzzle has landed. The pair of in wall cell extraction fans.
Two of these should keep things cool.

However, that's the only positive news today. I have just been informed by Dyno Dynamics that there has been some cock up with paperwork and in fact my Dyno is STILL in Australia and not on the boat as I was told.

We are now considering cancelling and getting the Superflo as they can deliver it very quickly and we are throwing away rent and time here like its gone out of fashion... the other annoying thing is the amount of adverts we have run in 9 national magazines telling people its open in January. And they have all gone to press.

Also annoyed as I will once again have to reschedule all early January bookings with customers, many of whom are on here of course. Really sorry guys, we will be in touch as soon as we have figured out what the hell is happening regards timescales etc. I cant apologise enough, as I really value all your bookings and of course your trust in our new and "Unproven" setup.

Disappointed to say the very least.
My new and unopened bottle of Honey JD hasn't a chance against me tonight... I may not even add any coke to it! LOL

Sorry to hear this, How dissapointing you must be rather pee,d off with that news .Is switching to a different dyno going to change much that you can and want to do? Maybe its worth hanging on and waiting ? Dont hit the bottle too hard fella either not worth it.

Epically shite service from Dyno Dynamics there.

What a truely horrific pack of lies to have told you that it was on the way when it wasnt.

Like you say the rent out and lost income is nothing compared to the lost advertising money spent etc, could easily amount to getting on for as much money as the dyno itself is costing but I suspect they wont be giving you a free one to compensate, lol

Shame as it does look a good product, but if they lie to you when you have 10s of thousands of pounds cash waiting for them what chance do you have of getting decent customer service on a warranty claim if a retarder breaks etc?

Looks like DD are doing well with customer service since they binned Mike off

Look at Rotronics if you're considering a change, they have full OBD connectivity and you'll have no problem reversing off it. There's one at Lohen, J14 of the M6 if you want to look at one
