Default Christ these focus ST turbos have gone cheap!!!

Just been looking on the trader and some nice examples out there round the £5k mark,I honestly had no idea they'd got this cheap now.
I remember a load of boys where I worked buying them on a voucher for about £15-16k for an st-2.
They always seemed a really good motor, the only complaints the lads had were their a bit heavy on juice but that seems a small price to pay for what your getting.
Am I missing something or just a genuine bargain?

mates just given 6500 for a red 06 plate with reasonable miles are a main dealers
but 2 years ago a 55 plate red un was knocking about here and they guy took 5k!! and that was after months of being for sale on busy roads and drivign about so i think prices have stagnated a bit myself and they should be cheaper, theres not much between an 05 and an 07 but teh later cars had some good revisions

i'd like to find a cheap one with a blown up engine as i have a 6-7k engine and everything still attached in my shed

I was thinking they looked good value too. My missus is in need of a new motor, she really likes my RS500 so looked for Black ST's and was surprised how cheap they were.

What's extra on an ST3 over an ST2?

Had an 07 st2 recently with 112k on it. Shit you not it drove like a new car.

Spent 12 hours detailing it outside too, sold for 7.5k

I think st2 is good value. I don't like the leather too much, and electric seats only matter when you're adjusting em. Mine ticked ALL the boxes, looked awesome in black with grey&red interior too.

Heated screens on an st2 too the 4 leather seats and a better std stereo was the main difference so hardly any difference really

And the leather 8 way seats are heavier so the car is slower lol

Whilst some are coming down quite a bit, other well spec'd and good condition cars are really holding their value. I could get more today for my orange st2 with sat nav, dual climate, park sensors etc than I paid for it exactly a year ago.

I had one as a courtesy car back in 06 while the Evo had some work done, couldn't believe how much fuel it used even made my Evo seem economical!

My went for £5425 a few months ago trade in which to be fair I wouldn't of got much more private sale.

Had it 2 years and cost me £11,000

Think it's the cost of fuel and tax that's hit the value of them.

A mate of mine bought a silver st3 with 65000 miles on it for 5k 8 months ago he has since tuned it to msd spec 310hp conversion and I must say after driving it on the road and down the strip at santapod it's and awesome car / setup!

Ran a 13.7 1/4mile @104 mph

But I destroyed the gearbox on the 3rd run!!

I think it's stereotypical of performance cars.

Like you say they are thirsty and expensive to run, thus have to be cheap to buy, as the people who buy these cars when new move onto the newer models, therefore leaving a small market for the old models.

Pre facelift ones are a real bargain! Facelifts are still holding out but they'll tumble as well soon. For 5-6k + £1.5k for 300bhp, can't really do much better than that other than having an Evo 5-6 for that money!

I'm still averaging over 30mpg after a year (but I do 80 miles a day commuting on roads when I can't really go over 60mph with all the lorries) and my insurance is sub £400 so not that high for running costs really. Tax is £270 so only £50 more than my old Puma.

Drove over to my mums yesterday with my little'un in the car so didn't go mad - you'd not really know it was a yob if you drive it "normally" as it's comfy and quiet. But give it some beans and it rewards you with an amazing engine / exhaust note and smiles guaranteed.

A great all round car IMO.

Average 30mpg?
That's very good, obv that drops significantly under a good booting but it's nice to know.
Mine wouldn't be an everyday car as I'm offshore now but I will occassionally be driving up to Scotland from Wales so its good to know their not horrific on a run.

On a run I've had 37+mpg.

Around town if traffic is relatively light 26mpg.

Moderate traffic 23mpg

Horrendous traffic 19mpg

And it is out roughly 5% I reckon.
