what do i need to reg a car from germany here?
my old man is after a car thats for sale in germany (he is currently in spain tho)
he wants to know what he needs to do or is it a case of get it here 1st?
any german docs needed for reg here or anything?

I think you get a time limit it can be on German plates over here. I've noticed lads posted back from Germany run their cars here in German plates for a while before they go on uk ones.
Best bet is ring dvla I guess.
Ill pm one of my mates who served in Germany if he knows. With it being sat night might not get an instant reply to pass on though.

i think he is warey because if he doesnt get something he needs and he gets stitched come reg'ing time its best to know before hand
and wether it needs exporting from the german side too

A lad I used to work with did it loads. He was buying top end cars and storing then for 12 months (had to being a squaddie in case of buying and selling for profit) and bring them back and sell them but lost contact with him.
Have asked a mate of my dads who served in Germany so as soon as I hear anything ill report back mate.
Best bet though would be dvla if you give them a ring Monday.

All my mate can remember is he needs a V55 frm and go to the first dvla office upon the cars entry (usually Maidstone). But tbh Thats crap info

needs to deregister it from germany or he'll continue to have to pay tax. bring the german v5 equivalent (with corner cut off) to uk, get an mot, get insurance against VIN and register with local DVLA office and job done. i've done it a couple of times, so straight from the horses mouth.
