Does anyone know if the Focus RS box is the same as for example a Mondeo MTX box? except with a slightly roomier bellhousing?
or are the internals stronger?

From what I can find its just the diff and minor bellhousing differences?

Frs has the atb diff, shot peened gears and a roomier bellhousing, otherwise the same as other mtx75 boxes.

Bit of an update at last!
I've got the engine and all the new bits back from stanwoods. Jonny has done a superb job and I'm really looking forward to progressing things now (I had the engine back last month but works been crazy).

I've got to DIY port and polish the head and then assemble the engine and head with all the new bits they have supplied.

I need to get injectors + fuel rail (or buy one if anyone knows of a solution for a fiesta RS inlet manifold and high impedance injectors 750cc ish), a Helix clutch and some other bits and bobs like turbo oil return etc

Then I will be pulling the current engine out, and seeing if this one goes in ok.... I am really hoping the exhaust manifold fits!!!
Will post some pictures asap

It's the HO one mate..?
According to Karl Norris they have used them to 400hp plus with no issues at all...

But I think a crazy cage IM will be on the list when the car is up and running. I also have got a nasty feeling my tubular exhaust manifold isnt going to fit so I might need a custom one of those too!
Got to get to the stage of dropping the engine in though to find out. Unfortunately no one has gone this route before on my car and there's zero info about what works and what doesnt so its trial and error

Does anyone know a good supplier for a helix clutch kit?
tnx

just because the inlet will do 400hp doesnt mean there isnt gains to be had by fitting a better flowing inlet.

i know of a car that was mapped with a HO inlet and made 281hp @16psi then with one of my inlets and made 313hp at only 14psi.

I would not waist my time with a h.o. Been there done it, as said by Gary a motor can be made to deliver better and more power for not a lot of money in the grand scene of things

Fair point! Can you pm me with price and stuff on your inlet please mate.

nevsrevs - what problems did the HO inlet give you?
I agree, its probably not the best route so I will maybe go custom straight off.
Like you say, the budget was blown out of the window months ago so who cares now (except the missus!!!) lol

As you're reviving this thread I'll give you the benefit of our FRS rebuild.
clutch - Sachs 4 paddle unit, good for way more than you're planning to run
oil pump - genuine Ford units available from CPE
Injectors - 800cc Siemens
inlet manifold - Area6 alloy unit by Ian Howell
cams - std FRS items (head gas flowed and polished)
ex manifold - Peron
turbo - GT28 hybrid from Sabre
Management - Omex 710
forged engine with SuperTec piston and Farndon rods
crank balanced and knife edges
bearings - King (iirc)

running approx 450 bhp / 400 lb torque

Thanks bigdel, looks a nice build you have there. Any more info or pictures of the setup?

thats most helpful mate. Has anyone else got any pictures of built up zetec turbo engines in or out of cars they could post for inspiration? It has been over five years since I stripped it down to get it built so looking to see how the hell to get it back together.

My hp goals are a more sensible 400hp, anything around that 350-400 I would be happy with and the engine should see the higher end of that range ok with the turbo I have,

These are the areas I have to address first -

Fuel rail, not sure what will work with the HO manifold which Im using, I have got some Sard Nissan 800cc side feed injectors, I have been re reading up and think these work with the zetec rail?

Erm, add the ancilleries back on the engine and sort out turbo oil feed lines and return

See if the tubular exhaust manifold actually fit the engine with its back in the car.... hopefully it does from my measurements but we shall see!!

Decide on what EMU to use that is cheaper rather than more expensive. Sadly I was going to get the legendary Ahmed Bayjoo to remap it on the Pectel T2 I already have but that wont be possible now so I dont even know if anyone else will bother with such an old ECU? anyone know anyone else who would do a T2?

Cheers

Here you go, some inspiration for you. From pretty much a rolling shell 3 years ago to last year's Ford Fair. Just keep plugging away, you'll get there in the end
