Default Truck smashed my Escort :(

Hi,

First post so be gentle with me
This is what a continental truck did to my Escort last week on the M25 when he attempted to move into the centre lane before my car had fully passed (sent me spinning then smashed into the passenger door):

Apparently I can't post image links...

...so email me for pics if interested.

As you can('t) see I need both near side doors
If anyone knows of any please get in touch.

Thanks.

Without wishing to sound harsh, is the car even worth repairing? Does it have any redeeming attributes such as concourse condition/engine transplant/??? Only reason I ask, is it needs more than just two doors, and a 5dr Escort you can pick up for peanuts these days... May be cheaper to just buy something to replace it, as the insurance company of the truck that hit you should be paying for this... and that escort will be written off without a second glance.

Chris above speaks sense^, any insurance company will write that off in a heartbeat as its a very low value car

Thanks to everyone for all your replies.

I've had it for 6 years, bought for £350, sailed through every MOT, never missed a beat, 1 previous owner with genuine 50K miles, pampered with 2 oil changes/year, fully comp insurance £160/year... ... in short I love my car!

Only bad points were rear wheel arch rust which I was eventually going to get fixed, oh, and the ladies hated it "your car is crap!" "get your self something you would be proud to sit in" etc etc

In short I have a sense of loyalty to my car, especially as it saved my son who was sat in the passenger seat the Romanian truck smashed into at 70MPH, and he walked away without a scratch.

Irrational? Moi?

£180/ton
shame i like these old escorts buy thats wrote off before an assessor even sees it
i think your poss underestimating just how much that will cost to put right
prob got damage to the A post and poss B post as well,
that 2 doors and rear arch/quarter repair and paint, £1500-2000 if done cheap
cars not worth anything near that, i know it has sentimaental value but you'd be mad to repair that
but thats just my opinion, its your car and if thats how you want to spend your money thats your decision
good luck whatever you do with it
