Does look pretty awsome.

Danwood79 09-07-2012 11:48 AM

Love it , always had a soft spot when I was younger for metros had a 1.0, mg 1275 and a mg metro turbo it was so much fun and had go kart like handling.

That looks fantastic

Brendan 09-07-2012 12:21 PM

not my cup of tea! but looks a lot of fun to me!

Fil 09-07-2012 01:38 PM

20k! that seems abit steep for what it is,

metro, 6r4 fibre glass kit, a granada lump, and probaly xr4x4 floor, and running gear.

looks done well but 20k

rik-rs 09-07-2012 04:54 PM

wow well ace, bit pricey mind....

scoooby slayer 09-07-2012 04:58 PM

awesome ive always loved these but £20k no chance, if it had a 500 hp turbo then yes.

wheres the £20k, i dont see it personally.

whizzisat114 09-07-2012 05:14 PM

My mates seen one of these with a super charged honda vtec in it
apparently it went very well

Mike C 09-07-2012 05:19 PM

When they sold off the last few of the real thing when Group B went tits up, they could be bought brand new for less than the price of a new Granada Ghia.

That would have been a very wise investment.

Glenn_ 09-07-2012 05:26 PM

Thats cool.Shame the price tag is a bit high.

NoRubNoDub 09-07-2012 06:17 PM

Iv'e seen two reps before one had a rx7 wankel lump and the other was a evo 8 engine and running gear.

Less. 09-07-2012 06:26 PM

Veyr ncie would love that in the Will Gollop colour scheme, but 20k for a mtro

7sean7m7 09-07-2012 06:28 PM

Well it depends how much the kit is to decide whether it is stupidly overprices surely?

A lad at work was mad keen on rallying at that time and looked into buying one of the last ones. Remember him showing me a photo of about 20 all lined up painted white. Sure he said you could buy one for about £10,000 ? would that be about right ?

Mk4 Lew 09-07-2012 06:41 PM

Love the 6r4, but 20 grand, tad too high

SMILER258 09-07-2012 06:58 PM

There are some videos of this on youtube. It looks very nice, but way too over priced

lynnsy 09-07-2012 07:06 PM

Hes having a laugh. 20k!!!!
That car coulda been bought for 8k couple years back and it looked identical.

A lot of work in it, but not worth it to me, pity it wasn't done rear engined, I would have thought 10-12k would be a fair price. You never get back what a car costs to build

I would go as far as to say it is the same car.

Anyway, I cant imagine that a big old donk of an engine like that in the front of a metro would handle very well. And of course the engine is in the wrong place really.

By the late '70s the collector car market had started to blossom and prices were rising. 250 GTO S/N 3757 went to Nick Mason, drummer for Pink Floyd, for approximately $86,000 in 1978 that was a wise investment an all;-);-);-);-)

Agree with that totally.
It does look very nicely done. but its still a metro with an NA V6 lump in it.
The build cost on something like this will never be clawed back, and although the seller 'thinks' it must be worth 20k plus. It will take someone with rose tinted spectacles to drop that much cash into a metro,
think of the othe cars that much could buy you...!

Matt Baxter 09-07-2012 09:27 PM

looks to go well enough

the kit is £1149, engine and drivetrain is worth peanuts, it wouldnt break for anywhere near £20k so it wont sell for it imo not by a long shot, unless someone comes along with more money than sense.

I agree, if you look carefully at some of the parts you can see that they are the same, for example, there is a black component in the right hand side of the engine bay (don't know what it is) that has rust in exactly the same places in both Ebay adverts.
I know that the 6R4 was/is an iconic car but the word "Metro" has to go and spoil the cars title.

zetecbeast 09-07-2012 11:36 PM

Wow. What A joker!!! it didn't sell at £6500 when it was last auctioned , !
