mk1 st170 half way through clutch change

Default mk1 st170 half way through clutch change

Hi every one first time on. Just bought a cracking mk1 st, but clutch was slipping. Got it striped down last night. My questions are how do I know if I need to change the plate which is bolted onto the flywheel? Is the bearing and slave cylinder one peice? and do I need to change slave cylinder? Hope yous can help as I dont what to rebuild without changing everything I need to! major job so far with scissor jack

bearing and slave cyl is 1 unit, a decent clutch kit should contain a friction plate, pressure plate and a bearing.

Fit a complte kit.

Do st170's use a dmf? (dual massflywheel)

Yes had to do mine Ł350 iirc

ive just pulled a box out of a st170. what a fucking nightmare. worse followed when the replacement was wrong.

It has 61000 miles on it. Yes I agree with the type of nightmare you had! just got to put it back together now.

im putting this one back tomorow night when i finish at 9pm, if the right parts come. this has done 72k.flywheel looks ok.

where did you get the kit from? Just looking online and are you changing the slave cylinder?

Hi if it was me I'd change the slave cylinder bearings and bolts to, to be safe, as if they go so is the clutch again,
I just been told that in 2003 they changed the clutch and duelmas flywheels,
Any one know what the difference is? And can u swap between them?

when the clutch dies on my 170 I will simply break the sod as I cant be faffed with the crazy expense
