Me too!

I genuinely don't! I've always had the same taste in cars, and that's mostly boxy 80s saloons and hatchbacks! I had photos of Cortinas and Sierras on my bedroom wall as a kid.

Ferraris? Posrches? Sure they're fun to drive but I'm just not interested. I'd far rather plough stupid cash into the likes of a rusty old Ford

I honestly can't see why the later escort RS isnt a "proper" one. Rust? All fords rust. Slow? It would leave an old RS escort for dead.

Give it 20 or so years and I bet people will be saying "Those focus RS', not proper RS', not like a good old Escort RS"
Correct, if ford gave it an rs name then its an rs no matter what you think, Yes all fords are rust buckets.

lol i say the focus rs mk1 and mk2 anit a proper rs now, ones just a chavved up focus (wide body kit and added a turbo dont make a car better) and the other is a vovlo but made worse (a chavs car hands down) and not just me a few rs cosworth owners say the same.

I know most people would, but I genuinely prefer modified 80s saloons!
I could flog all my daft fleet and have something typically fancy instead, but it's just not me.... I must be mental

They may not be the fastest or most desirable, but it was badged as an RS by Ford so in my view it's in the club.

As said, was just over shadowed by the Escort Cos. Good engine, got one in my Sierra and IMHO was the DOHC Ford should have made from the start instead of the 8V version. It gets slated because it's a Mk5 Escort, but then the Cosworth is a boring rep mobile with go faster bits.

The mk1 and mk2 escort mexicos where classed as RS cars....so in reality a mk5/5a/6 RS2000 is actually more of an RS than the mk1/2 escort mexico, as they actually wear the RS branding on their tax book, a badge on the bootlid and they have recaros!!

Typical high horsed wankers with too much of an ego and too much money, will always talk down a mk5-6 RS2000, and personally owning a mk6 RS20000, i rate them as an all round better daily driver than my s2 ERST was and my current FRST!! And would i buy one again - in a heart beat yes!!

Very underrated car and much better driving car than most of bandwagon wank machines that some dickheads drive on the roads!

I think you will find mk1 and mk2 escorts have RS on the log book.

And the mk1 mk2s earned the RS badge because they did win compete in rallys and win, unlike the other RS fwd shite that came after them

Ford didn't go to the bother of making special XR shells, (or RS ones either!). They're all the same!

And the same goes for the majority of all RS models, with a few notable exceptions.

FWD RS's have been successful in motorsport

Rs1600i Group A Touring Car Champinship winner 1985 for example

Are you sure? My mk5 z-s fiesta had a different shell to all the other mk5's with strengthening and stiffening gussets etc, in the same way a type 49 did

Couldn't say for sure about any other models but shell differences are not unknown

The Mk2 Xr4x4 shells/cars were made up at Genk same as the RS versions I believe, rather than over here, probably why they rust 'slightly' less than the UK cars Not sure about other shells though tbh.

good cars and have less issues with the n/a than rst cvh, handle well and comfy. standard far better cars than rsts but then they are 8 years newer. rsts are more fun and highly tunable then i wouldnt mind having a turbod rs2000. competed in motorsport and done well in the hands of gwyndaf evans. better than the astra gsi too, do they deserve the rs badge, yes imho
