Default MOT's for track day cars whats needed....

Bought a track day car which hasnt been on the road for a while and the previous owners removed bits like the horn and handbrake. What i want to know is what i need to do to get it back on the road. Its nothing to do with driving it but i want to take it to the ring and it will need to have an MOT. So is there a link to a website that has a list of things that are required to pass the MOT so i can see what i need to do.

It is only for the road part of the ring and testing parts so the minimum required (i.e day time only MOT) to pass.

Thanks in advance.....

Cheers
Brendan

http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual/contents.htm

For a daytime MOT the side and headlights have to be missing completely or painted over and wiring removed, so they can't easily be put back into service.

Thanks guys, looks like i got a bit of work on my hands. With regards to the ABS which was present on the car but has been fully removed. Would that need to be put back on? or because its removed wont be tested as an ABS model.

Bear in mind that just cause it has an MOT doesnt mean you will be allowed out on a tourist day, they do reserve the right to refuse entry, so if you turn up with no headlights etc I wouldnt be surprised if that happens.

Well worth trying to check with them first I would think as its a long way to go for a dissapointment.

i think steering wheel swops will be a big one, steering locks and airbacks are both removed in one move most of the time.

ABS, no longer "if its not there it dont count" attitude, sadly

if it was made with it, its gotta still be functioning, dunno how there gonna enforce it, hmmm

Chip,

Was an example as to best way to get it through with minimum work, it will defo have headlights in it! Only reason i want it is for the TF so will be getting it to a point where it wont even been looked at in a way that makes it stand out.

There must be some concession on mot as competition cars must be road registered and have current tax and mot. Else a lot of modified cars and built up cars from shells will find it impossible to get on the road. What about fiesta shells converted to cossie running gear, almost nothing of the original car electrically or mechanically remains,

Concession + VOSA, I don't think so.

Radically modified cars are about to find out if the revised MOT is going to pick them out.
