What car is it? Or what is limited space, rough idea from head to first thing to be hit. Usually rad.

What turbo, what orientation, what is the car used for. Power output etc, are all questions we ask when doing a custom manifold, theres a lot more to think about than just the manifold. Lots of forward planning is needed or you back yourself into a corner, (literally). Not just in the design, but the welding and fab as well.

I totally understand what you are saying. I'm pretty good with this sort of thing but it's always nice to get input from more experienced people. I will give more details in Pm

Yeah he's done a great job. The lack of room is ridiculous - when putting it all together originally the smallest job would take ages to get to etc

yeh when i spent the day there there was so many bits and parts that needed modding etc (ie due to turbo heat etc ) jim said make me a list and it was quite long , did you get jim to do all the work? as hes really a very good lad , how long until its on the road because it going to be a beast.
what sort of boost are you running through the block as i take it you heard what happened to ian howells block

cheers paul

Yeah I had a shock when i saw that list lol Yep he has done all the work needed. He has a few bits to finish and then back to RDT for plumbing in and tuning. I was hoping to make central day but it wont be ready now.

Yeah I read up about Ian's issues but the results from the US look very impressive soo far (even if u take them with a pinch of salt). Personally i think the intake temps from the cosworth cast manifold i have on will restrict the power before the block becomes an issue but for now i will just be happy to see it run and kill some tyres I am thinking of seeing if Jim can make a larger duratec version of the Ian Howell style zetec manifold and water injection but lets get it running first

Inconel manifolds are ultra cool.

Those billet collectors look ace too.

Here's my effort, quite happy for a first effort..

Just started out, no capital, I created my own using this method and thought it such a good idea that it would work for others doing engine swaps and I could make a few quid. Then if it worked start up doing them commercially.

It is a great idea and works.

Not a lot of profit in just doing flanges as the first setup for each one cost a lot of money and then cutting and filimg the rings, getting the rings welded on fetching and carrying and posting.

Around Ł15 profit in a pair of V6 flange plates. Only sold two pairs so far!

equal lenght will help in terms of spool etc as you have equal amount of exhaust gas pulses per cylinder thus a consistant speed in the turbo all the way through the rev range.
theres plenty of unequal lenght manifolds that work but they will be built on the cheap .
theres certainly nothing wrong with it but i bet you a Ł10 steve that if you built a proper equal lenght merge collector manifold you would have gains across all the engine.

cheers paul

Has everyone tig'd these manifolds? I know most of the pro manifolds have been tig'd, but I was wondering if anyone of these manifolds had been done using mig?

Or has anyone had successful results using poly weld pipe cement
