Always thought Iveco's were Fords?
Had an Iveco Daily 3.0HPT this morning.
Always thought Iveco were Fords?
This one has Renault door handles, fiat dials and vents and a renault radio
Safe to say it Broke down in Liegh Delamare services and I had to drive it back to Bristol to get a new van... Fiat Ducato
Bailes.

The engine was very loud on the motorway.
This van only had 800miles on it and it went into limp mode in the outside lane of the motorway
Had to drive 20 miles down the M4 to Bristol at 47mph because Europcar wouldn't come and give me a new van, I had to go and get the van. Piss poor customer service and outright dangerous!
Ducato was better, much quieter and more comforble but the interior looked awfull! It did have a 72mph speed limiter too, so went from Bath to Bridgend flat out
Totally take my comments about the Transit the other day back. It was like driving a Bently compared to these two!

i thought it was a co-production fiat/iveco with a ford engine, box and maybe rear axle too, you would see the ford badge on the grille, but i think the co-production has ended because you dont see them with the ford badge now

IVECO has always been the truck-building division of FIAT since its conception.
Ford trucks Europe did become part of the brand, hence some used to have Ford engines and badged IVECO-Ford. That stopped a good few years back now though.
IVECO is an acronym, like FIAT.
I needed to get a 3.5t flatbed truck extended and a 7 metre bed fitted and the only manufacturer that agreed were IVECO as the Daily was the only truck deemed big enough in standard form and calculated to be viable. I wasn't overly enamoured at first as i'd had bad experience of old IVECOs, but 2 and half years and 80k later it's been amazing. Nothing broken or gone wrong save for a stop light going out. Only just had pads and tyres changed. Beautiful truck to drive too, pulls so well even with all the added weight on the back plus a tonne load. Recommend one to anyone.

we have a old daily recovery truck been reliable as anything engine wise for 4 yrs only ever needed a alternator.
no iveco's have truely been fords they was made in turin using fiat / lancia parts since they began hence why the electrics are shite and the speedos never work
ours is same as this does its job

Total shit vans imo, had one when I was a delivery driver for parcel force back in the 90's, was a brand new daily but it was shit, gear box was dreadfull, exhaust snapped off it at the manifold and like mentioned on the thread it just fell to pieces in a relatively short period of time, definately was not as good as the old sherpa's with the sliding door
as also mentioned on the thread there was a time when the two companys had a merger/partnership and produced vehicles, you also got Iveco Ford hgv units but they were also shit

Here's our Daily as mentioned above, doubt you'll ever see another with a back like that on!
Still as good as the day it was delivered in every way. Screwed together great, nothing like the Ivecos of old.
We own a fleet that includes that truck (59-reg) and 7 58-plate vans (4 Sprinters, 2 Vitos and 1 LDV Maxus). The Iveco has been the best by far, the nicest to drive by miles, even with all that lot on the back. The Mercs are 12 months older, but don't even come close, nowhere near as nice to drive, rust coming through on some even though all of our vehicles are pretty well pampered for working vehicles. The Vitos are the worst, really flimsy, bits falling off. We had the Maxus at the same time as the Mercs as they were virtually giving them away to anyone buying a fleet of vans off them! It's really shit, flimsy as anything, awful gearchange, clutch didn't last long. Although that said the engine isn't bad. A bit noisy, but 3.5 diesel and it goes pretty well.

Had driven an L-Reg TurboDaily years ago and it was a heap of shit.
We borrowed a 7.5t EuroCargo (Ford engine) which was a 2005 which drove nice, obviously limited top speed, but outdragged most trucks its size uphill easily, but had a few bits of trim break off outside (interior was ok) and had a number of niggly little faults with it.
So I was always pretty anti-IVECO before this truck.

Ford sold off their truck operation to Iveco in the late 80's but retained the right to have their badge on Iveco products for several years after the sale (hence the name Iveco Ford Truck). Iveco continued to produce the Cargo (the original) but that ceased around 1993 and with it any part of the original Ford commercial vehicles. The EuroCargo replaced the Cargo from 93 and had no connection to Ford apart from a badge stuck to it. From 93, Ford had nothing to do with any Iveco products except in name.
After the buy out Iveco and Ford had an agreement that Ford wouldn't produce a commercial vehicle bigger than 3.5t and Iveco would not produce a vehicle smaller than 3.5t. that expired some time ago and now you can buy both the Daily at 2.6t upwards and a Transit up to 4.5t.
