Looks they've captured the shape of the classic London bis and given it a modern twist, very smart!

I like that, hopefully with that window at the back you'll be able to see up birds skirts as they go up and down stairs

I don't think they have completely have they? I still see Routemasters in service around London.

IIRC wasn't the new one designed by Aston Martin? Or should i lay off the crack pipe?

The route masters were taken out of service due to not being green enough and the congestion charge would have cost a fortune iirc.

im sure they could have been fitted with a decent engine if needs be, plus the green arguement is blown out the water by the CO2 emissions arguemnent based on using a old vehicle rather than the enormous CO2 waste in production of a new vehicle. Routemasters were the perfect bus for london, easy to drive, easy to maintain, flexible, reliable and good value for money.

they were shite to drive and went wrong loads

turning circles were terrible due to no overhang at the front and if the gearboxes got too hot they would explode, too hot being stuck in traffic for more than 10 minutes they used to make little lead plugs to stick into the torque converters so that they would melt before the boxes blew up

I love it (as much as I can love a bus)

Not better than the old one but it's as good if that makes sense.

Certainly better than those bloody bendy buses. Didnt they get rid of the old ones because it was too high up for wheelchair users? Thats what I always thought anyway.

was an article on them in the sunday times this weekend.

more economical than current buses due to diesel electric hybrid system - basically an electric motor drive charged by a diesel engine apprently.

i reckon they will become iconic and the tourists will love them, which is why boris has done it.

Looks a bobby dazzler i reckon, as far as buses go like, looks a bit like a Routemasters gone through a time warp, been stretched squeezed and poked a bit and this popped out the other side

I spoke to a guy that works for arrivia today and he said they are only building 20 of these for central london special routes only and maybe 1 going woodford green area but they are concerned about vandals wrecking them as its something nice and new
