Yeh its bolts to the inlet.manifold.Its an easy job to remove to clean out. there are a few torx bits that hold it to the nanifold and a small L shaped bracket that is bolted to the valve motor.

When I bought my focus it had a flat spot. All I did was clean out the inlet and egr best I could with a huge can of carb cleaner a rag and a big flat blade screwdriver. I cleaned loads of thick crap out. After I pulled the vacumn hose of the top so the egr valve stays shut and just popped a bolt in the hose.
The car run so much better after and has improved more over time. That was a year and half ago.

Smoke out the back, poor running , lack of power, management light on. Loads of things really. If you ask me they are a waste of time. Majority of older diesels end up with them blocked then drive round with clouds of smoke coming out the back while returning shite mpg.
Now how is that supposed to better to the environment. it's yet another crap device to cause unreliabilty and cost to motoring.
