I'm addicted to my turbo.
My car sat for 3 weeks until tonight, i was vaguely thinking of selling it because i dont use it as much as i used to, i have a van for a daily and also other toys.
but after a trip in it to the shop tonight, the sound, feel and driving experience of it i just love it all over again. Why though? i can't understand it. i've driven much faster cars, better handling and all round better cars, but there is definitely a certain something different about an 80's turbo ford.

Far more raw conncected feel imo, the smell of the fuel ands heat, the rattling tiny car being launched down the road etc, just a rush! Modern cars are quick but it doesnt feel like 'shit this is going way faster tan wasnt meant to' lol!

Its because they are noisy, rattly, raw cars.
The lack of power steering gives you a good feel of the road and just the way you can feel every bump makes you a bit more connected to what its doing.
Its a wierd thing seeing as they dont handle great or are not very fast compared to alot on the road these days, yet they always raise a smile. Everyone who has driven my little 170bhp ERST has absolutely loved it.

I just swapped my fiesta ST for a series 2 yesterday and I love it!! The smell, the power delivery, the lack of power steering. . . The list goes on! I'm in love with mine already tbh!!

my mate has a Fiesta ST and he still maintains that he has more fun driving his Fiesta RST and RS1800, for all of the above reasons!!!
and if you all love the sort of 80s car that is crap to drive, gives awesome oil and petrol smells and has a great "comes on boost" delivery....a Renault 5 GT Turbo is hard to beat!!! even by todays standards, the R5GTT has phenominal brakes as standard and my old ones gave me the same feel as when i drove my S2 ERST and currently my FRST!!
Thats why i love my saxo vts. they have old school feel to driving them, but they have the more modern shape and tech in them (PAS, Airbags etc) But the really new stuff is bulky as fuck and too heavy and drive too smooth etc!

Glad i struck a chord with some of you, its an odd connection we've all got with pieces of metal lol.
Still alive mate, Not been on there in a while tbh, no reason i'll add, just noth8ing was happening with the old girl over the summer, i was playing with the cortina and escort and she got sidetracked so i "lost interest" in the site. I'll be back on there soon, Say hi for me
