Default New to the forums

Hi everyone one,

Have always owned fords since I started driving with the exception of one tiny red fiat, which we shall not go into here.

Used to float around the escort power forums.

A search on crankshaft pulley removal brought me here, thought it seemed like a lovely active place, so I'll join up.

I managed to get my current car through an MOT (first one I did all by myself) bit of bodywork tidying, new front springs and a cat.

Now my water pumps gone, so I'm in the process of doing that and the timing belt, but the fookin crankshaft pulley will not come off (got the bolt out ne bother)

Will get some pics up soon.

I have a 2000 1.6 escort in moondust silver, it has Mondy alloys in black atm, ford front upper strut brace and RS2000 front brakes with greenstuff pads, otherwise standard.

Here's a few pics

The brake callipers are now silver, they came off my previous 1.8 radiant red escort, but i resprayed them.

The bumper situation is quite funny. It should have body coloured bumpers, and the front should be fogged.

I think a previous owner has dinged the front bumper, and replaced with a black unfogged one as it was cheaper. The back body coloured bumper has then been sprayed black to match the front.

I was planning to put the correct body coloured fogged bumper and body coloured rear bumper on.

Also clear side repeaters, body coloured bump strips and skirts and spats.

Then a 40mm drop.

However, I told myself I would get the car through it's MOT (which I have done) as I have spent time and money on past cars to then have to let them go due to needed repairs costing too much. Got this one through the MOT and is in fairly good nick underneath (have now under-sealed). Now I have the water pump and timing belt to do and then tidy up the bodywork, before I even think about anything cosmetic.

It's currently up on axel stands as I can't get the fookin crankshaft pulley off. I'm going to try putting the bolt back in lose then using a bit of wood and a couple of g-clamps tomorrow. Failing that I will source another crankshaft pulley do I can resort to more destructive methods of removal.

Mate dont beat the shit out of the pully it wont help , I have done a pully seal on mine same type of pully best get the tool or like me get a 5mm plate drill the bolt holes and use three bolts with a large center bolt an nut as a puller all comes off in 5 mins and no dents to anything.

The pulley does have 3 holes round the edge, but they are not threaded so cannot screw the bolts in to use puller.

That's why I was goin to try the bolt/wood/g clamp method.

The more destructive approach was tapping a thread into the 3 holes so I could use the puller.

you could put nuts on where the bolts pass through the plain holes ?

Unfortunately, as well as not being threaded, the holes don't run all the way through the pulley, only about half the depth, but drilling them all the way through and using bolts could be easier than trying to tap a thread into them
