Default Car Advertising - Pet Hates

Been doing the usual trawling of the internet for 'cars I like the idea of buying but probably never will' tonight and it's highlighted something I've noticed before but which is increasing almost weekly. I wonder if any of you have come across it too?

The buyer advertises the car for sale/swap, but elsewhere in the advert mentions the reason for selling said car is because a) Have bought another car and can't afford to keep 2 b) Mrs is having a baby or c) It's too powerful for her. Fair enough.

But then they go on to say 'swap for WRX, RS, Turbo, WHY something fast!'

Isn't that just putting them back at square one?

If they can't even type 10 lines on a screen without contradicting themselves then there is no chance I'm buying a car from them! They'd be as well saying;

'I've ragged the shit out of this one and can't afford to fix everything I've broken, but maybe one of you tossers will give me a swap for your pride and joy so I can rag that too?'

I also hate people who can't spell the name of the car they're trying to sell and especially people who can't even be arsed washing it or removing rubbish before they take pictures!!!

Anyone else?

or the retards who just stick on the window of the car "for sale" and a number.

no info, no price just a number.

sorry but how arrogant must those mongs be to think thier car is that special that someone would like it that much to bother to ring up to ask without even knowing the price.

same as adverts with no price but "offers" on them. Whats the fucking point??

more often its on a shitter or plain car too

Nah, the biggest bug for me is 'offers' why? everyone knows what they want for their car, nobody is ever going to go in high on an offer, and the seller always gets upperty at a low offer.

Just fucking state what you would like in the first place so people can see if it is genuine or if you are a fookin dreamer.

Ha ha ha

I think some people do it just to show off their piece of shit motors with no intention of actually selling them too??

"Just gauging interest" is another of my personal favourites. Interested in a car you might decide not to sell me? Naaahh!!

Shitty quotes like,

"first to see will buy"
"you wont find better"
"a bargain at only £xxx"
"never driven hard or thrashed" <- yeah right, list of mods as long as your arm!
"one lady owner" <- wheels are kerbed to fuck and car has been poorly maintained
"pocket rocket or flying machine"

I get this with just about every person who rings me trying to sell me there car

they go on and on about the car then i ask , " how much do you want " ?

I dont know is what i get every time

then we go back and forth with , " well you must know what you want " , " no mate make me an offer "

does my fucking head in as they know exactly what they want but think i may be daft enough to offer them 3k more than its worth

If your selling somthing you DO know what you want so just say and save a load of hassle

People who say 'leathers' when describing their car having leather seats. WTF did leathers come from?

Also people who say things like, completely standard - Apart from window tints, exhaust, lowered etc. Its either standard or its not.

I dont like when they put "new car forces sale". Like I care why you're selling the car! Not so bad when it's on an eBay ad or the like, but in ad's in mags with limited number of words, I just feel they're trying to fill the space rather than talk about the car because it's crap

but on the other end when selling a car i hate the idiots that say how much for cash, what else were they thinking of to pay for it, and no matter how you price a car at the moment people want to offer 3k less as its a "buyers market" apparently.

"No Offers" - and thats exactly what they'll get.

"First to see will buy" - Oh really?

"Mint Condition" - So it will really be like new? Oh...thought not.

I took with my brother to Hastings (2 hrs from me) to but a discovery the ad said no major faults rust etc, many new parts fitted blah blah,
then as soon as we got there I found a hole in the sill about the size of a fag packet huge hole in the floor and it was pissing oil from the sump
well the new parts fitted were removed from the car for the sale, wtf

when we asked the seller he said it was nothing to worry about then got all arsey when we chipped him £200 or chuck in the extras he was offering us for a £200 wth its the same thing you mong

its all fixed now and as i had the metal and a welder all it cost was a new sump gasket and a bit of time

I don't even bother looking at Autotrader nowadays. The car I want is either sold, Cat C/D, twice the price or they don't answer their bloody phone!!

Read the description. It's like he read this and then posted the ad.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-W-CIT...#ht_1344wt_882

"When i brought the car it had a toggle switch to operate the wipers as the main stork for the wipers did not work"

another thing that winds me up with ads, the "not" titles! Like:

Ford Sierra NOT Cosworth
Ford Escort NOT RS Turbo
BMW 3-series NOT Alpina
Mercedes CLK NOT Brabus

I know why they did it; So more people see the ad. But dont these people realise that if someone is looking for a Sierra Cosworth then they aren't going to be interested in your rusty GLX?

I'm not a fan of buyers txting me. In fact I hate it unless they make contact via phone/E-mail first so I can make sure they aren't a tit.

so your telling me that if you found a car for sale you wanted and it had been for sale for a while you wouldnt try that then ?

sorry to tell you the truth but it is very much a buyers market and there are some serious bargains to be had , you may not need a sale but a lot of people do and they know its tough and expect to take a hit if they want a quick sale

The single most annoying one is " If it don't sell, I will just keep it, it's worth this all day long". If you dont wanna sell it, don't advertise it!!!!!!!

People who buy for a example, a car , for £1000 , spend, £1000 on modifications, and then expect it to sell for £2500 and then grumble when they get £1500 offers, you never or rarely get your money back on bolt on modications, wheels, lights, tinted windows, you either remove the modifications and return to standard or accept no matter what you do to a £1000 car end of the day the bare bones of it is its a £1000 car.. lol
