Just had vosa in retesting one of my mot's...
Come in flashing his sherriffs badge...
I Smoked 5 cigarettes in an hour while he went over it with a toothcomb...
It wasn't a nice feeling at all, how I have gone 8 years without ever having them retest one of mine before is beyond me, but I'm glad it's over...

ive just passed my test this week and the vosa inspector was quite thorough and i had a bit of a sweat on!
when i finished the car he asked me if it has passed or failed.i said passed with 3 advisories.he then asked me about the n/s/f tyre as he thought it should have failed as it was below the limit.we looked at it and my boss and me said it was over 1.6mm,he said he thought it was under.we got the official depth gauge out and it was 2mm.he didnt like that but conceded defeat.
apart from that though he was quite a fair chap though.

well done on passing.
i had one checked and argued about an arb bush that vosa said was a fail. this has turned into a long running feud between us which has moved workplaces with me.
then they wonder why they get a bad rep.
he told me to take the testers manual home and studie it as thats what he did every night. i told him i was pleased for him and i had better things to do like go to the pub.

That sinking feeling when they keep jotting stuff down whilst looking over your previous test is not nice, I think most of the time they are doodling because they know you are watching them and adds to the drama.

Had a vosa inspector turn up when i was getting my van MOTed. The tester obviously crapped himself, i was sat in the van doing lights, steering etc. Didnt know wether to act like i worked there or not but aparently its perfectly acceptable. The van passed with 2 advisories and he kept his license so its all good.

Ive been dealing with VOSA now as a tester. then QC, then AE for over 18 years, if you are testing to the required standard, keep the paperwork as it should be, and generaly work by the book you will never have a problem with VOSA.
I have had spot checks, re-tests, appeals and have a station that is rated one of the highest in the area.
though recently I had a telephone review, which was obviously carried out by a non vosa call centre, as when I queried the stats they had no response for me.

luckily we do loads of kitcars, modified and weird stuff here and normally get the same tester, we also look after his family and friends cars lol
good as gold he is, spot checks are a pain in the arse when you are servicing a car on one ramp and got it logged in for a test on the other and they turn up i would imagine
