Default Fully enclosed trailer hire in essex/southend area

Does anybody know of anyone who has a fully enclosed car trailer they would be willing to rent out for a day or maybe 2

I need to collect my fiesta shell that has just been painted from Durham and bring it back to Essex,

It is on dolly's and sits quite high but if need i will cut the jigs down so it should be ok for a enclosed trailer, i do not want to risk stone chips etc or it pissing with rain halfway home using a normal trailer as it has no glass etc also a sheet over the car could damage the paint during the 280 mile trip

This is what i need to protect

Will be towed by us as all quotes i have had for other people doing the job have been a total joke

I am based in Wickford so the close the better to make it easy to drop off and pick up etc so i can try and get it done in a day,

Thanks
Marc

Youll be lucky mate , its hard enough to borrow/rent a normal trailer.

you might have to pay a firm with an enclosed trailer to collect it.

why cant you use a normal trailer and wrap the shell up in something?

If you wrap it up, as the sheeting moves with airflow it scratches and wears the paint.

I'd just collect it with a normal trailer and not cover it up. Bit of rain won't do any harm..

I would sheet it up with a 3M type painters sheet then cover it with regular car cover . Stone chips shouldnt be too much of an issue .

Do you hav a trailer to use? If so do a simple 20ml box section arch front and back then cover with a taupalin (sp) Looking great though Mark, wasn't sure the mk2 could be bettered. Keep up the good work!

You can rent them. Feel bad for not lending you mine, but it was £8k and they are sooooo easy to damage em mate.

Mark I know someone with an enclosed trailer and large van who will do it for you. He's a one man band but carries all types of prototype cars for manufacturers (Astons, Lotus' etc around Europe! He's based down in Battlesbridge where my first unit used to be (Maltings Road)...... I dont think he'll be very dear either.

Different note saw one of yours in Red about an hour ago come off the M25, looked mean as fook on the road, although no where near nicer colour as the grey you've done yours in!!!

Yeah it won't be the end of the world but if it chucks it down on the way home the water will get it every nook and cranny inside and into the chassis, and id rather that did not happen if i can help it

I have had quotes from people mate and i know it's a 550 mile round trip but they are quoting approx £600 and i am sure your mate will be about the same, but if you speak to him then ask for me, its to be collected from Durham and brought back to wickford, problem is after the actual paintwork i don't have that much money left

Thanks
Marc

I was meaning paint correction in terms of machine polishing any marks encountered on its route home. I.E scuff marks from a flapping car cover .

Have you thought about a big box van, have mounting points inside for straps and will be wide enough inside. Only need to knock up some ramps to get it in.

Or a Race Teams 7.5 Tonner with Tail lift ,or a Transport Company and stick it on a pallet as a part journey return . i have to tell you £600 wont be far wrong for any of those quotes tho .

As already said just stick in on a normal trailer, dont bother covering it up as rain wont do a lot to it,i trailered my mk1 escort shell with no windows in the rain,i got home and there was a couple of puddle in the footwells that were dryed with towels
If you worried about stone chips what are you going to do when its on the road?

I've just text you Mark, spoke to my mate with the trailer and he is in the country at the mo (he's been travelling all over Europe with a prototype Mclaron road car on the back for the last few weeks!!!), he said he can do it this weekend. He's working a price out now but I doubt you'll get any cheaper than him.

Can you not cover the front/any areas likely to get stone chipped in the blue 3M tape that people use to cover their cars on the way to shows??

I also wouldn't bother with a cover, rain/wind/hail is unlikely to make much of an impact or cause any issues.

Cheers,
Grant
