Over 10 k is obviously esc cos money !
But after owning saffs and esc cos , i would rather have a big power saff than a 3 door or esc cos any day !!
Lots of point to consider ,, big power and standard 4x4 wont last long ,you will need upgrade on saff or escos!!
If you pay for a saff at 10k ish and need to spend 4k on box etc you may have to break car to get money back when selling
But i recon you would have to break an esc cos also too get most of your dosh back !!
Been there done it on both !!
On the plus side a good solid 500bhp cosworth is awsome too drive

Yer but not a 500bhp escort cos. Imo it is a good investment and someone will pay the money just to say they got a 500 bhp saph. I got my saph for 3k about 7years ago and it was mint. Saph's are only ever going to go up in money

as you said yourself, theres no one with the money to buy a £12k saph so basically its not "worth" 12k because no one will pay that....

the modifications as described certainly arent worth massive amounts especially as it doesnt say anything about the engine long block being special or rebuilt in any way.

saphs arent going up in value as much as some saph owners would like They simply arent rare enough yet. They are the least popular cossie and as such would need to be more rare than the others or more special to be worth a lot of money and i just dont think they are there yet.

just because there isnt someone that would buy it now doesnt mean there will be someone in the nearfuture. I havent read what work's been done to engine but if its solid mapped well its defo worth the money. How much u have to spend on making your own motor 5000hp?? And as already said u could always break it instead of selling it. Just my opinion though

If 500bhp Cossies were worth loads, you wouldn't see so many perfectly good ones getting broken up for spares.

Most of them seem to end up in bits cos people just want the money out of them.

A genuine 500+ hp engine will cost in the region of 12-15k depending on a few factors

Saying that thats with a donor engine for the build.. So if you utilise your own engine your looking at about 8k

I can get the flint grey one - if it's still for sale for £7250, so it kind of makes that one at £8750 look over priced. Besides if it was worth that amount it would of sold by now. As I've got a tendency to go sell something when it needs a clean, I don't want to do someone else a favour and pay too much for something then lose bundles when I sell it as it's not in line with market value.

I'm not bothered about bragging down the pub that I have a 500bhp capable cossy. I just fancy another Cossy and want to buy something for a similar price to what I can sell it for when I get bored, whether I spend £5k on a saff or £15k on a 3dr or Escos.

I'm an indecisive fucker at the moment.I must have sun stroke

Also, I wouldn't want to buy it then throw £4k for transmission on it. That wouldn't make sense to me. I know it would need it but that's why I thought of a decent stage 3.

Another thing I would be asking myself it is the grey one with 18" mo's etc on it, is why has it dropped nearly 3k in the price, things are usually cheap for a reason. At the end of the day a car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay on the day.

PMSL @ price of mods being fully recuperated in the sale price!!

.....with this and your 'I have a few quid so I'm forced to buy bigger turbo but no supporting mods' chat, I think you need to take a wee timeout in a dark, secure, medically monitored place Luke.

Regarding the OP, that grey saph has been for sale for ages and has steadily dropped in price but found no buyers... IIRC, Alps Pacino went for a good poke around it and ended up running away from the car, could be worth a PM?

Cheers,
Grant

After reading this thread I had to go on pistonheads, some nice examples on there, one of these two would be my pick

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3040367.htm

And this one which a lot of people on here know

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2927978.htm

I'd buy the 3 door immidiately if my numbers came up, but I'm never that lucky and thats probably theonly way I could afford something like that.

I'd say that's pretty accurate tbh, mine has cost me just over 15k to get it to the stage it is now, that includes gearbox and diff though, as for what its worth, I've got no intention of either selling or breaking it so I don't care really,

Just read your post and know what you mean. I was about to sell mine but after reading what you've just written, I know there's no way she's going to anyone as I'm selfish! I would be living in regret for years to come.
