distilled / deionised waterthe same thing????
Is distilled and deionised water the same thing? I want to set up my zinc plating kit tomorrow and i need distilled water, a mate says that deionised water from halfords will be the same thing?

Distilled water, is water that has been boiled then condensed to collect the pure water. When the water is boiled the ions and minerals are left behind while the pure water boils and is collected.
Deionized water is water that has been filtered or treated to remove ions. There may be other materials still in the water, but the ions (which may interact with your chemicals) are removed.

They are 100% different, as said distilled is the steam collected from boiled water, in a "still" hence where it gets it name from.
Unless the kit/chemicals are different than most commercially available stuff you can use deionised perfectly and get good results.
Incidentally chemists sell distilled water as it is used for other things as well, so worth a try.
